"That's why... I never loved you." WHAT!!! So cold hearted it's fantastic.

"Closer" synthesized the show's themes of femininity, victimhood and prejudice, elegantly exposing the lies a community tells itself in order to live.

There's something about this blend of summertime indulgence, history, and skewed rewriting of a situation to make it into anything other than a tragedy that lights a fuse in the town.

Oh God!

Episode Five: Closer

I'm not sure if that cliffhanger from Ripe has paid off in this episode, hasn't paid off, or hasn't yet! But I'm sure that it foreshadowed the most unsettling episode in the series, so far. Oh God! I still can't believe how the Calhoun Day festival was directed, or how the dialogue in this intense long scene was written. This unnerving scene seems as if it came out of a Gothic novel! I just wanted the ending to be more intense to make me more excited to watch the next episode. Also, what leads to the ending is a bit clichéd.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode did not make me doze off at any point which is an accomplishment, but the show is still lacking something.

Still, focusing on a central premise of celebrating a holiday and having a fight at the end along with various citizens throwing shade at each other made us get a somewhat entertaining episode.

Warning: Spoilers
This is an 8 episodes series, yet the story is not developing that much.

This is really a filler episode.

Interesting

All of the episodes so far have been very interesting to watch but with few episodes left I wanted a little more out of this episode.

It's fun to watch but the story needs to pick up a little more now. It's very character driven and that doesn't work so well with tv but great for a book.

I never read the book but I'm a sucker for details which is the only reason why I'm still watching because so far there hasn't been much action.

Warning: Spoilers
Natalie's brother got beaten up by Ann's father because they were the only suspects that were in the article of Camille. Adora admitted she never loved her because of her father. They saw her body in the changing room and it was depressing.
