WOW! Not your average horror show.
bravojohhny20 January 2023
I spent a lot of time as a kid in front of the TV watching guys like the Ghoul etc. And I like Svenghoulie but this show is different. While it has the goofs and errors you might see in any low budget internet show, you start to get the sense that these are left in as a homage to the live TV shows of yesteryear. The show is filmed in 6K and that seems to be a high mark only this show has attained. The host feels a bit like your old uncle that might crack a slightly off color joke at a family gathering. And while there is obviously a script, he isn't afraid to adlib or go off script. As he says, bad movies and worse jokes, I love'em!

Has the "feel" of the original show.

Like so many kids in the SF bay area, I grew with Bob Wilkins on Creature Features on channel 2. There are other shows that pretend to be connected to that show but only this Creature Features has the feel and the love for movies that Bob did. Old Movies, new movies, good bad and "other", they're all here. Along with the big yellow rocking chair and the skull and candle The new host Al Omega (The Alpha and Omega of all things Horror and Sci-fi) brings a dry wit and a slightly more adult kind of humor. No rubber chickens here! Open and personable, he also makes the rounds at the conventions interview star and fan alike.

Surprisingly, a "retro" show that has just the right amount of retro.
jackdavid-6606721 January 2023
All of these hosted shows seem kind of retro to me. Most of them suffer from bad sound at the least and at the worst bad everything. It bears note that there is a similar show that has a high degree of technical sophistication but it's missing one thing, heart. This show has that very REAL feel to it. You can tell this is a calling for the host, not just some job. There is nothing fake about this guy. He knows a great deal about the movies and works on films himself. The host is here to share his ample knowledge on the subject and the jokes ( unlike some shows ) are never forced. The host is genuinely funny and feels like someone you'd like to hang out with for 2 hours a week and watch a movie.

an acquired taste?

Like many kids I grew up with The Ghoul and Zacherle as show hosts and a friend turned me on to this guy, Al Omega. I had never watched the Bob Wilkins version of the show ( it's on youtube) and at first I thought this was a simple sort of show but after awhile, I found there was way more to it than meets the eye. There are other shows you can watch but this guy actually went and got the rights to the show! And when I say guy , I mean it's just him and one other person making this show, week after week. Low budget ? Yes but does it feel like the Bob Wilkins show? YES! Same sort of jokes and a huge knowledge of movies ( he apparently works in film) and yes, even some "blue" jokes your dad used to tell around the campfire. Overall, this is a excellent extension of the original show with a new and funny host. Why has no network picked this guy up?

SHOCKING SHOW!!!!
test-2815025 February 2023
I've seen any number of horror hosts over the years and so many of them stick to the same 50 or so safe classics. Not this guy! He shows great lost gems of movies, movies that should have a cult following, and movies no one else will show because they were R-rated back in the day. He also shows the classics with background research on the actors and their lives that add a wonderful spin on what you think you know about the film. Nudity? He doesn't sugarcoat it. Personally, I can't stand remembering a scene only to have it removed later. As far as I can tell, he leaves his movies intact and I love that. Funny guy without being "weird". A great show to watch on a Saturday night!

Worth it

I see alot of tens here and while I like the show, I don't think it's a 10, a solid 8 though. The host is funny and well read, not just in film, I see a lot of hidden pop culture references stuck in there and he doesn't hit you over the head with them. I like the interviews he does at events but they are too few and far between. I respect that he upscales a lot of the films making them sharper and easier to watch ( my 50 inch thanks him too) . I also like that he's just him, not some crummy vampire or barely hairy werewolf! Over all the show is polished in a way that on first glance, might make you think this is a armature production but after careful observation you can see this is intentional. Love the look. Overall, easy to watch, safe for kids ( there can be nudity) and might even make you think.

A good show, lame intro I know...
donovanterrence10 October 2023
I don't normally do reviews but my son was watching this and I thought I'd check it out. Apparently this is a reboot of a old 60 show or in that style at least. I never saw the original so I have no idea how close it is. What I do know is that it's funny. Not the over the top kind of humor you might expect but it has some real and genuine humor delivered in a very natural style. I'm guessing the guy does a lot of improv, there's a script but it looks like he ignores it regularly. People have noted he doesn't play the obvious films, which it to say while he shows the classics, he also showing some fairly new films and at least one brand new original. A Brand New Original. That's what we have here in this show. An Original with zero budget and fairly high standards. No it's not perfect but then, shows back then weren't.

Loved it
d-ramseeey6 March 2023
Loved the concept of this tv show and I absolutely loved how knowledgeable the host was. A really refreshing new take on this show and for horror fans like me this is a must watch. Lots of movies that I didn't know existed also, plenty of cult classics and a totally new and refreshing spin on things done by the brilliant host had us glued to the screen right to the end. I'm hoping for episodes here and I'm honestly shocked as to how this show doesn't have an even bigger audience. Perhaps I'm early here but it's a perfect series to watch on the weekend with friends and family. Well done to James Currie and everyone involved.
