His wardrobe is idiosyncratic, to say the least - eg coral blazer, grass-green pants, lavender shirt. Fine, except that he seems to wear them da after day! But I can watch without smelling him and enjoy that.

Michael Portillo's enthusiasm is infectious...I love this series:)

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed watching Michael Portillo's railway journey series across Europe (I haven't seen his ones across the UK but hope to soon). Here Michael, who was a senior Conservative Party minister in the UK, continues has train passion in the USA.
He does not disappoint. Guided by the 1879 copy of Appleton's Guidebook, he travels through the east cost of the USA, providing us with his witty and inquisitive thoughts and observations about the former colony of Britain. He explores the various industries, the religions, the scenery, the trains of course. I'm hoping Michael can continue with more series in the USA, like traveling through California or the mid-west.

What's with the clown act?

I happen to be a train enthusiast and there are thousands of us around the world who just love trains. But how can you portray train enthusiast for someone who dresses like a clown and acts like an idiot! there are millions of people you could have found to do a better job and at least dress like a normal person. I take personal offense to the fact that showing enthusiasm about such a great way of travel and an interesting part of history is represented by someone who dresses like they're from the Ringling Barnum Bailey circus!
