Agatha does not ramble. She is willing to run charity events for a local lord but Jason Merrells is too "familiar" to be Sir Charles Fraith. And it doesn't take a genius to figure Jessica Tarnick (Debbie Chazen) will be murdered as she makes her brief appearance as an obnoxious walker. Roy Silver (Mathew Horne) is pressed into service to find background information. But Agatha would never think of having her house cleaner work as her aide-de-camp.
She enjoys the opportunity to pass herself off as being married to her neighbor James Lacey who is not as thrilled but has to go along as Sir Charles Fraith reminds him that he owns James' cottage. But this Agatha is a bit too pushy in too many ways. Agatha Raisin may be successful in advertising but her character is supposed to suffer from an inferiority complex; not a superiority complex. I am just going to have to convince myself to judge the stories as separate entities that just share the title of the books.
This story finally takes off as someone tries to run Aggie over and she is saved James. Could it be Sir James Fraith's man Gustav. No, he has an alibi. Maybe Jeff Benson who was in love with Jessica? Maybe we just need to return back to the cottage and revisit the "murder kitchen table." But first someone has to save Sir Charles Fraith.
