Enter the true South, where liveth the salty sons and daughters of the earth.
*hawks into a spittoon*
Its on like Grey Poupon yall.
About as classy as it gets as even the intro theme has changed for this episode, with the "have mercy" tune done with a southern twang.
The gang happens upon a small vessel with zombies stuck in it, taking them out only to find the boat owner somehow hiding under a simple canvas cover from the brain dead brain eaters. Continuing upon the grand river the gang happen upon the carpet baggin' snake oil sellin felons, the duplicitous duo of Sktechy and Skeezy, bless em both. Like Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn the two con artists paddle up to the protagonists with a yarn as long as the Mississippi and a plea for help. Yet in no time everyone finds themselves in zombie infested waters, dammed up tighter than a rattlers behind after a meal.
Then thangs really begin to heat up as the group is separated from 10k whom is found by the two con artists, and they embark on a short but good lesson for the young lad about whom to trust.
With every conceivable stereotype, except for incest and stark racism(thankfully these were left out), this episode keeps it lighthearted most of the time: it has a banjo tune playing in the background at the right times, a clichéd reference to the civil war as the fault of the invading north, and greasy sleeveless slack jawed plaid vest wearing nut jobs, just a shotgun blast away from being like the jerks from Deliverance itself. From hustlers to flimflammers, this episode has a style reminiscent of an old timey jamboree hootenanny at one point. I swear I could envision a washboard and empty hooch bottle for the soundtrack.
To twist the idea of southern hospitality further, yet oh so rightly, there's a small hick town with enough booze, cheap strumpets, and even a fiddle played with part of a hacksaw while a guy shoots at paper targets right where folks are a strollin'. This is going down as one of the more zany and memorable of the shows many great episodes. Pour it on, yall! Its Go Time! 8/10
