This is seriously how the show chooses to celebrate its 30th anniversary? We're promised a wedding between Daniel and Amber, a sweet couple who belong together.What we get instead is a load of contrived drama which basically involves Daniel deciding to climb down a well on his wedding day to retrieve a 100-year-old engagement ring and getting stuck down there with the girl who's just told him she loved him.That's not even a slight exaggeration, it really is as ridiculous as that, with farcical events like Daniel's complete non-reaction to Imogen's revelation and Amber and Daniel leaving phone messages that are just vague enough to be misinterpreted.Plus Paul being loathsome and stirring the plot.
What else?Tom Ramsay comes back, which is welcome.Guy Carpenter comes back, which is a bit pointless.There's some decent stuff with Harold reflecting on his recent experiences.And Nina's storyline is a bit more engaging with a logical plot development that they'd better not wimp out of.
