A great, but not quite excellent episode

My overall rating of "Bron/Broen"'s Season 3: 6/10

This episode, the best I've seen of the series so far, represents much of what makes "Bron/Broen" so good. The plot grows more complicated, and the actors all give great, convincing performances. In this middle part of the season things we were initially shown shine in a new light or are turned on their heads, rewarding the inquisitive, attentive and imaginative among the audience. Tina appears in the flesh for the first time and turns out to be an interesting minor character, and while I don't enjoy her character arc's conclusion that much, it's a shame this deep-voiced and beautiful lady with a positively mercantile attitude plays such a small role overall. Henrik's storyline and character continue to deepen and fascinate, and combined with Saga's they make for a second-to-none viewing.

As for the bad stuff... Saga's cemetery visit is contrived and goes against what the character has stood for, only being there to advance the plot (not unlike Martin's infidelity or Rasmus' mess-ups in the prior two seasons). In addition, while perhaps realistic, the backlash against Tina is nonsensical, although I can't say that she's done nothing wrong - the visit to Benjamin's mom was certainly an awful call, and made for an unpleasant and unjustified scene.

(I've watched this series in original languages with English subtitles)
