Somewhat interesting, but ruined by a lot of flat acting

The premise and whole story is somewhat interesting and feels real and relatable to some degree. The main character, the anti-hero blond played by Anna Camp, is the only one who's well played, followed by the supporting protagonist, who's OK. Everybody else is playing it pretty flat or just bad.

Actually, Anna Camp's performance is the thing that makes this more than just a "story on a screen". She does overact, but, it's somewhat expected, 'cause it's hard to play such a specific character - smart, resourceful, yet spoiled and a little crazy. Especially since nobody else really helps, she's on her own.

Stefanie Scott, as the protagonist, has figured all she needs to do is look cute, which she does. But, that's it, there are way to many times she could have played better against Anna Camp's "craziness", either showing fear, contempt, determination... anything but the cute look.

The buildup, from a silly prank to murder, attempted murder and arson, gets worse (i.e. less believable/real) as time goes on. As in a lot of films in last years, it falls apart by the end.

Bottom line, it's watchable, but not very good.

The two girls called it a prank when actually it was vindictiveness shown by one of the sisters when she discovers that her husband has been having an affair.

The two sisters kidnap the girl who had no idea that her boyfriend was married.

The story is one of a situation going completely awry due to a series of circumstances beyond anyone's control. It shows how her husband and sister become drawn into the plot as circumstances almost warranted the situation.

Naturally, we were dealing with quite a lunatic, the irate wife. Stabbings, killing and a fire result. Just shows you what may happen when people come under your orbit.

Pearly White Teeth, Duct Tape, and a Kitchen Knife

Co-stars that appear in several scenes include the same roll of duct tape, the same butcher knife, and a pair of white nerd socks worn by Little Sister (the prop department must have been short of materials). Where is the product placement for the toothpaste that created those pearly whites for Sabrina? And would a cop who comes upon a kidnapping in progress turn his back on the other perpetrator? Not likely. Still, "Caught" is mildly entertaining. I give it a 6 out of 10.

Not worth watching

I am really glad that I recorded this movie. And that I did not have to waste money to go and see it in the theaters. It was a really bad movie. At first I thought it was a comedy. Then I realized that it was supposed to be a suspense movie. But, the acting was so bad. And the plot was terrible. It was ridiculous. And it just kept getting worse. I fast forwarded through a lot of it because it was so slow. And the ending was really weak. I would not recommend this movie to anyone. I wasted enough time watching it, so hopefully you don't waste any of your time watching it. The acting was really pathetic. I guess if you have insomnia, it might help you with that.

Silly nonsense and bad acting and script

Don't waste your money on this drivel. A terrible silly and stupid script matched with such bad acting it makes you sick. The jealous housewife who is the instigator in the whole thing gives you reason why the hubby strayed. She is a nutcase. There was a scene when she is testing out a grave she was digging and I just wanted to cover her up hoping it was all over. And the hubby is just as bad letting his crazy wife kill people and standing around like he's retarded. Absolutely no balls. Hard to believe how he ever could attract the young girl at all. Then there is the sister who has no nerves at all and she continues to hang around when she keeps saying they are doing the wrong thing. And there you have it. So, can you blame me for finding this movie so stupid and the characters just as empty headed to match.

Pranks Kill

A young woman weeps. She is bound to a chair, and gagged. Wearing bright red nail polish, another woman taunts her attic hostage. Outside, birds fly free as we learn the events herein are "inspired by a true story." While the credits jump across the screen, teenage track runner Stefanie Scott (as Allie) takes a lap and receives some bad news from her coach. She's failing and will be dropped from the team. Even worse, she is kidnapped and becomes the hostage seen in the opening seconds. The perpetrators are a pair of overly perky sisters, wickedly sexy blonde Anna Camp (as Sabrina) and girlishly naive brunette Amelia Rose Blaire (as Paige). There is very little to this story that isn't revealed in the first 15 minutes, so it's probably best to say you figure out how the characters are connected by a handsome businessman, Sam Page (as Justin Price)...

"Caught" catches writer Marcy Holland and director Maggie Kiley restrained by a bad opening and introduction of characters. We see the victim already tied up, then meet a student and a pair of strange young women. It might have been better to omit the confusing opening "tease" and add some scenes to establish the characters' ages, relationships and infidelities; none of these are supposed to be a surprise. The story's most interesting dynamic is the interplay between the wildly different sisters; one seemingly psycho, the other intellectually challenged. What engages most is how Ms. Kiley and her crew divert our attention from the initial victim and to the bad sister. There is some cleverness and humor in how the victim and villain roles can be switched back and forth. With better pacing and presentation, this could have been a much better production.

Entertaining TV movie version of "Very Bad Things"

Good acting plus cringe-level "can this day get any worse?!" sequences, so I gave "Caught" an above average score. TV movies have rating (not to mention budget) limitations that I factor in. I have to give it credit because it held ~80% of my ADHD attention span - sort of like a trainwreck would - but it held it nonetheless. That being said, if it was any longer I might not feel the same way. If you like black comedies this I would recommend this "graphite" (TV14/not quite black) comedy for you!

A Little Act of Kindness

"Caught" was indeed caught in an odd mixture if film styles. It was a film that couldn't make up its might whether it was a thriller, a horror film, or a dark comedy. In the end, the film didn't work, but it provided one surprising revelation that makes the experience watchable.

Young Allie has messed up her young life. At age 18, she has been booted off the high school track team because of low grades. At the start of the film, we see her racing around the track, but she doesn't even look like runner. She is berated by her coach both for her lack of effort and for her academic lapses.

In her undisciplined personal life, Allie has been carrying on an affair with an older man. She does not realize that he is a married man. She has also been erratic in taking her birth control films and has become pregnant. In her job as a waitress, Allie's service is so bad that one customer writes one word on the bill: "Hopeless." Could her situation be any worse? The answer is a resounding yes!

Sabrina, the woman who is married to Justin, the man with whom Allie is having an affair, learns of Allie on her husband's cell phone. Sabrina enlists her younger sister Paige in a hare-brained scheme to kidnap Allie, blindfold her, and taunt her. The plan goes awry when Justin unexpectedly arrives home. Next, a cop is killed when Sabrina pushes him down the stairs. Her next scheme is to enlist Justin and Paige in a diabolical plan to set the house ablaze and let Allie burn alive.

It is then that the unexpected occurs. A curious bonding takes place between Allie and Paige. Both are high school seniors, Allie on her way to becoming a dropout and Paige with an acceptance offer for Stanford. Paige is suffering from a stab wound and Allie has a broken bone in her leg. But the two characters find common ground in resisting Sabrina. Heroically, Allie assists Paige out of the home that has become a conflagration.

"Caught" was evidently inspired by a true story. Let's hope that in the actual incident there was a similar comaraderie formed between two of the victims that, in the end, helped to ensure their survival from the machinations of a maniac.

Not worth watching

One housewife gets all her close friends to commit murder.... not believable as well as the victim had numerous chances to get away and even kill the housewife but didn't. Don't waste your time

Anna Camp at Her Best

Caught was quite good for a Lifetime Movie, and I would suggest ignoring the low rating. Also, don't be fooled by the inspired by a true story line since this actual story from the United Kingdom where a couple of teenagers kidnapped their friend because she had been sleeping with one of their boyfriends. However, with that being said, this film is pretty entertaining for fiction. Allie is a high school waiter who is kidnapped one night. What Allie doesn't know is that she has been kidnapped by her boyfriend's wife, Sabrina (Anna Camp), and her sister, Paige. The pair were originally just planning on scarring Allie, but when Sabrina's husband shows up and Allie tries to escape, things go horribly wrong. I won't spoil anything, but this film kept me engaged, entertained, and guessing the entire time. Anna Camp simply kills it as Sabina. She is both relatable and deplorable at the same time. And I think she makes a really good antagonist. It wasn't a perfect film, but I would defiantly recommend watching it if you get the chance.

Wifetime's Black Comedy of Errors.

Sociopaths abound in this nasty little story from Wifetime. Allie, a vulnerable teenager who is trying to help her single mother make ends meet by waiting tables after school. She meets Justin who takes advantage of her by starting an affair with her. He doesn't tell her he is married. Meanwhile, his insane wife Sabrina finds out about it and, with the help of younger sister Paige, kidnaps Allie to "teach her a lesson" as a prank. The prank, of course, soon gets out of hand.

As a mystery or soap opera, the movie is a tremendous failure. As a black comedy, it has a terrific, Coen brothers feel.

The adults are all either monsters or idiots. Allie's mom finds her teenage daughter making out with a man twenty years her senior in a supply closet, and thinks she's handled it by talking to her for five minutes. She doesn't think about calling the police. Only at the urging of a teenage boy does it occur to her to involve law enforcement in looking for her daughter. Unfortunately, the policeman she asks is as much of an idiot as she is.

Justin, the man who caused the mess, has the morals of a snake. He is obviously married to his wife for money. He is ready to dump Allie as soon as he realizes there are consequences, and abandons her to his wife, knowing she will kill her.

Paige, Sabrina's sister, is manipulated by her at every turn. She wants to do the right thing (as she's Allie) but is constantly used by her.

The star sociopath here is Sabrina, played by Anna Camp. She is every mean sorority girl, every snide man stealer and every desperate housewife in one character. She is the perfect, shrill, self-centered monster to be married to a worm like. Justin. Neither are very smart, but both are ruthless predators.

The fun of the movie isn't being scared or anxious. It is hate watching awful people engaged in an increasingly unbelievable comedy of errors, and hoping someone shows up to rescue the innocent victims.

I enjoyed it in spite of myself.

If you have NOTHING ELSE and I mean REALLY nothing else to watch okay, but you will get pretty bored. Acting was so bad, they tried to underline every emotion with heavy breathing. There was so much heavy breathing it really bothered me! The ending totally cheesy, hard to handle.the story overall also boring. It was just boring.

TV thriller of the week I reckon. Though I should not put down TV work, there are quite a few good things being made, but this is more a run of the mill kind of thing and something that really is way predictable. It's not something that has to be bad for the movie, but in this case it just doesn't work well.

I like Anna but she does ham it up quite a bit It's almost a shame, almost like quite wasted. It's very cliche ridden and it will be difficult to really care when it is so over the top. Also the mother really wasn't convincing at all. Her emotions were important for the viewer ... Save yourself some time and watch something else instead

Keep moving ... Find something worth moving towards

This was a well-done film for a non-Hollywood production. It was engaging enough that the low-level acting was not a huge distraction. I really like the focus on a mother's intuition and determination, as well as the line at the end between the girls. The storyline is intriguing. Said to be based on a true story from the UK, I wasn't able to find anything online. Search engines are ridiculously useless these days. I thought the only really decent acting was done by Stephanie Scott. Anna Camp did successfully portray a psychopath nearer the middle and end, but in the earlier scenes she seemed to be way overacting and I thought I was watching a soap opera actress. I also disagree that her character was highly intelligent. Intelligent Psychos are well-documented as highly organized and able to plan out every aspect of their crimes. It's the low IQ ones that act on impulse and keep having to scramble to cover their acts. The plot itself seems very unbelievable. And then when the exact same duffle bag from the attic shows up much later - did she keep an extra? I would definitely call that a blooper. So, yes, not top-tier filmmaking, but a worthwhile watch. Not sure why some people are saying it's dark comedy. I don't think any humor was intentional. But in my final criticism, I will say, if I had one bum leg and everything else was working fine, I would not be slowly crawling across a floor or unable to get out of a tub. There were a lot of wtf things that were totally unrealistic or poorly done but not intended to be humorous. If you're confused about what dark humor actually is, go watch Fargo, Pulp Fiction, Falling Down, or Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Good but didn't like the ending

This is what I imagine Sarah Newlin was up to during those seasons she was gone on True Blood. That being said I would of preferred to see her win in the end. All these movies always end the same and it would of been better seeing her get away with it.

Bad start...good second half

Exciting and entertaining - above the usual Lifetime standard

This thriller is above the usual lifetime standard. It is almost feature film quality in sharpness and direction. It's almost theatrical in it's drama. The story is supposed to be based on a true story but it seems too much of a thriller type story for that.

The cast is very good. Anna Camp of Pitch Perfect fame is darkly comic and also effectively dramatic plays the wife who kidnaps her husband's mistress (Stefanie Scott) and holds her in her house with the help of her sister. Then the cheating husband (well played by Sam Page) comes home.

Things come together well and it's quite nail biting. One of the best thrillers on the channel.

Very good movie

This was a surprising good Lifetime Movie.

The actors/actresses all did an excellent job.

The pace was good.

The story was told in a clear, concise manner.

There were plenty of surprises, twists and turns in this suspenseful plot, which I thought worked well.

The actress playing the beautiful, blonde villain was very convincing as a manipulative psychopath with tunnel vision that focused completely on herself and what she wanted. She was also highly intelligent and as they encountered one problem after another she would always come up with a solution even when they're were in so deep there was no way out.
