"It Gets Better" is an American English-language short film from 2 years ago. It runs for slightly under 5 minutes only and the writer and director is Davin Tjen. It is the story of a young men who gets bullied by a gang of jocks, but one of the jocks is secretly in the closet too. At the end, there is a huge jump ahead in time and we see what the two protagonists are like several years later. The title fits this film very well too. The first half was disastrous, the second half was bearable, but also not good. Talking about the first half, why would he want to kiss a guy who just harassed him violently? Honestly, the kiss scene felt so unauthentic and fake it really made me cringe hard. Also, huge overacting in here. The filmmaker definitely needs a lesson on subtlety, even if less demanding audiences probably even may have liked that scene, because it was oh so emotional. And on a side-note: Why would the closeted guy kiss the other one with one of the friends still nearby possibly. After acting all tough earlier and making sure nobody finds out about his real feelings. This film was a failure, there's no denying. Stay away.

for a film of 5 minutes, it is maybe O.K. to use scenes with great emotional impact. not fake but not easy to understand. because the first part presents only emotions. irrational, bizarre at first sigh but not exactly surprising. the gestures of teenagers are in many occasions far to have a good explanations because the instinct, hidden feelings, need of demonstrate to him something, a spontaneous and unpredictable gesture are not extraordinary. and the kiss, in this case, is the axis of film. the second part is real strange. because it represents the good solution for a comfortable end. so, not so bad. but only a nice sketch.
