"Carnal Orient" (2016) directed by Mila Zuo had great visuals, suggest obvious David Lynch films, and carbaret performwnces. Among its strength is the make-up effects, costuming and its surreal storytelling.

Director Mila Zuo's stunningly grotesque film is incredibly useful in a classroom setting when teaching the male or Orientalist gaze. It's entertaining, Lynchian, and incredibly rewarding when students begin to understand the construction of racialized gender during our post-screening discussion.

Colors, food, sounds, guests, the sketch of story. A film who you feel more than see. Because it reminds David Lynch Twin Peaks , remaining more mysterious or proposing a story who could be defined by yourself in the right manner. A cook, a show, a song and a crime. The emotion and, from the first scene, the high expectation. Well crafted, not real explanations. Only a form of fascination or just seduction using the ambiguity as its essence.
