My summary statement comes from Grace's remark to Robert about the newly formed couple. In this offering, a family friend has died. He was old, and all four of the main characters feel obligated to go to the man's funeral. Unfortunately, they all arrive at the reviewal and must deal with their paranoia and their former spouses. Sol is sickeningly fawning, Robert is embarrassed, Grace is utterly self centered, and Frankie is her impatient juggernaut self. There are some seriously tender moments among the angry exchanges. What this show is doing is not forgetting the humanity of these people. They are not being played as buffoons, even if that would describe some of their behavior.
