The Cost of Doing Business
Uriah4316 September 2024
After having her marketing idea stolen by a local business, an adverting specialist by the name of "Alice" (Antonia Liskova) decides to enlist three of her friends to create their own business on the internet as cam girls. To do that she reaches out to a former business colleague named "Giovanni" (Marco Cocci) who specializes in graphic designs for projects just like this. But the most important member of the team is an attractive woman named "Rossella" (Alessia Piovan) who is currently working as a cam girl for another company and is easily able to recruit some of her colleagues to join the business once it gets started. The problem, however, is that none of these women have considered how their new occupations as cam girls will affect their current family and social relationships. Likewise, the fact that none of them are familiar with either finance or business also creates difficulties for them as well. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that I wasn't too impressed with this film as it lacked the suspense and eroticism necessary for a picture of this type. Additionally, the ending could have used significant improvement as well with one scene involving "Gilda" (Sveva Alviti) and another focusing on "Martina" (Ilaria Capponi) ending much too abruptly and subsequently leaving the audience to try to make some sense of it all. At least, that is how it seemed to me. In any case, as stated earlier, I didn't much care for this movie, and I have rated it accordingly. Below average.

The one

No pun intended - this was actually the movie I was looking for (after I bought the DVD that only has the german dub on it, thankfully there are streaming services that remedy that fact) ... makes you wonder why you bought so many discs in the first place ... just me? No you too? And you? Well at least I am not alone ... or maybe I am - then again, maybe I don't exist by the time you read this. Which would make me wonder how you found this movie and my review, but hey beggars and choosers and all that.

Talking of beggars and choosers: cam girls and those who .. not sure what to call it .. pimp them? Manage them would be the correct phrase I reckon ... anyway, they don't have it easy. The movie almost makes it seem impossible to be a good p... manager of individuals like that. But that is only because so many things are stacked up against them (no pun intended).

Women who are the main source (literally) seem to get the bad end of the stick (that is how the saying goes right?). There is some nudity but even more drama. Some cliches and a lot of heartache ... but also suspense ... can it work? Will it work? Is it empowering or a moot attempt? And who is really to blame for downfalls? There are some messages here - whom you either care for or not ... up to you (no pun intended)

Despicable

Gross and ridiculous. Can't believe Netflix has this in their selections of movies. They've taken it to a new LOW.
