Inspector Falke - The Cowardice of the Lion
Tweekums5 October 2018
As this episode opens uniformed police officers approach a car in which a Syrian couple are arguing. The man exits the car as ordered but then threatens the police with a knife; he is shot and killed. When the car is searched a young boy and the body of a young girl are found in the boot. Documents found link them to a group providing false passports; this links then to a case Falke is involved in. Soon another body of a Syrian-German turns up; this time a man who was clearly tortured to death. Falke interviews relatives but is sure they are hiding something, he also works to get the traumatised boy to talk.

This was another solid episode; I'm sure viewers will quickly figure out who the main villain of the episode is but there are lots of links and motives to be uncovered and these are less obvious. These details are revealed in an interesting way which leads to a fairly downbeat ending as some of those ultimately arrested are sympathetic characters whose motives were understandable. Wotan Wilke Möhring continues to do a fine job as Falke; the scenes between him and young Mert Dincer who plays the traumatised boy are particularly touching. Overall another good story.
