Not worth the effort...

The movie "Lock In" (aka "Clown Kill") was something else alright. Granted, I hadn't even heard anything about the movie prior to finding it. I figured it to be a horror movie and hence I decided to watch the movie.

Now, I might be using the word 'watch' a bit loosely here, because I only managed to endure 20 minutes of the ordeal that is "Lock In" before I tossed in the towel and gave up out of sheer frustration and boredom.

The storyline was unfathomably slow paced and everything in the movie just screamed and oozed with amateurish movie-making; from the camera-work to the acting, the script to the execution and editing. Sure, if this was a low budget and film school project it would be plausible, but for an actual movie it was just way out of what I wanted to pay money to watch.

It was eventually the horrible dialogue and questionable acting performances that killed off the movie for me and made me get up and turn it off. It just became too much to bear witness to.

This is definitely not a movie that I will be returning to watch ever again. There was nothing interesting to be had anywhere throughout the 20 minutes that I managed to endure.

If you enjoy horror movies, then there are far better movies to spend your money and time on.

Killer Clown from Inner Space
nogodnomasters11 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Jenny (Jessica Cunningham) is drugged and raped by a clown in a bar's ladies room. The film then picks up six months later. Jenny works for an ad agency and needs to work the night to finish an assignment. Her boss John (Roy Basnett) is a driver and an HR nightmare. There is also the token cheapy janitor. That night a man in clown's outfit stalks and kills the employees.

The clown claimed to have given Jenny acid which doesn't explain why it acted like a fizzy and knocked her out. There was basically no decent development of character. The film was boring.

Guide: F-word. Brief rape. No nudity.

Clown Kill (Me Please I would rather be dead than watch this trainwreck)
SUFFERPARTY24 December 2019
Allow me to preface this by saying that I have seen clown kill twice in my life. I am not willing to watch it a third time. I would sooner jump into shark-infested water. I would rather rub my fingers up and down a cheese grater with boards made of sandpaper.

Clown Kill is what happens when you base the concept of a movie around a fad. You get a cheap attempt to cash in on something which may in and of itself not be all that interesting. We know there will be a clown in the movie. There is a clown in the movie. The clown kills. What can you do with a clown that kills that has not been done already? Any potential creativity is not present within this film. The kills aren't even all that creative. The twist is lame and predictable, and there didn't even need to be a twist at all. Clown Kill would have arguably been better without it.

To say this movie is a slog is an understatement. It takes 45 minutes for the titular clown to even make an appearance, and when he does... well, he's certainly in the movie. He's certainly a clown killing. Was it worth the inane buildup thar doesn't even build to anything? Absolutely not. You could watch the movie without any audio and you could easily guess what's happening and what's going to happen because nothing in the script is necessary at all. The characters aren't even characters. They're pawns on a chess board existing only to get mowed down, which wouldn't be a problem if they were at least fun to watch, but tragically they are not.

All in all, If you want an equally frightening clown murder viewing experience with slightly less padding, just look up "killer clown" on YouTube. Your remaining brain cells will thank you later.

Dire * spoilers within *

Warning: Spoilers
I thought that Killjoy was the worst clown slasher movie I'd ever seen but Clown Kill, AKA Locked In, makes that look good! The only reason that I can see for this being BBFC rated 18 is for the drug rape scene at the start. This is then followed by 40 minutes of terrible actors arguing & trying to crack jokes. Once the killings finally start they are as lame as the Clown's attempts at funny one-liners. To cap it all the end makes no sense. Jessica Cunningham is easy on the eye, otherwise a total waste of time & money.

Spoilers follow ...

Warning: Spoilers
Jenny, or 'Babes' as she is often called (Jessica Cunningham), does not have a lot of luck as this film begins. Drunken, spiked and raped in the toilets of a club, hassled by a burn-scarred janitor Jennings (Stephen Greenhalgh) and victimised by boss John (Roy Basnett). The acting is extremely naturalistic, and the scenes are like eavesdropping on genuine work-related conversations. What lets things down at times, however, is the uneven sound quality which occasionally obscures dialogue. The feisty women in the advertising world are not to be messed with, and Boss John – mouth like a potty – is feeling the pressure too.

There is much humour here, a lot of it laugh-out-loud banter between the characters (especially the security nightshift George and Colin (Tim Paley and James Thompson)) - reminiscent of 'The Office' comedy (BBC, 2001-2003), which is no bad thing. Occasionally this balances nicely with the feelings of impending horror with what seems to be a killer clown in the locked-down offices – and occasionally it undermines the action. But I've a feeling that is deliberate. A familiar modern furnished office in an industrial estate is a remarkable sinister place when the night comes and 90% of the staff have (apparently) gone home.

In-keeping with the off-beat nature of the story, the ending could mean any number of things. The whole thing was Jenny's drug addled dream or Boss John was dressed as a clown in a bid to incriminate Jennings (who is psychopathic anyway) … who's to say? Whatever the outcome of the hyper finale, I had a ball watching this. Clearly it was done on a budget (the gore was never seen to stain the office location walls or carpets), but it remains great fun throughout. The pace rarely slackens and although the killer clown's identity is pretty obvious from the first time we see him, this is a hugely enjoyable horror frolic.
