With this supposed to be the next 'Merlin' I felt it was a necessity that I watch this, the fact it had two Game of Thrones actors (Mark Addy & Ron Donachie) featuring in made me even more excited for this, however I felt there was a lot wrong with this show...
It started off poorly when we received next to no information about Jason's real life (however this may have been intentional, we might find out more as we go on). The actor playing Jason (Jack Donnely) was inconsistent, in fact the only actor whom actually impressed me in this show was Mark Addy.
Hercules and Phythagoras living under the same roof seemed like quite a speculative idea however it was one I found quite interesting and imaginative and the idea of Hercules being fat rather than the strong muscular figure he is known as made me laugh.
The remainder of the episode felt rushed, especially when the characters spent more time talking about the Labrynth and the perils held within it than they actually spent facing them. The Minotaur received approximately 10 seconds of screen time however I felt the graphics used to create this creature of the dark were well done, and very accurate. The only thing that let down Jason's final scene in the Labrynth was how he somehow managed to find a sword despite the guards making an almighty fuss about weapons being allowed into the maze, he is then simply able to thrust the sword into the Minotaur and that's that.
Overall I'd say this episode deserves a. 7/10 rating
