Seriously? an episode about the DMV ?
Xavier_Stone22 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This show is really going downhill fast. Another filler episode with some minor foundation work on the Mike Prince.

Just extending this DMV story throughout the hour is just showing how desperate and out of ideas that the writers are.

Was this written before the writing strike? Perhaps, but it's surely just terrible and simple.

When in doubt, make another scene with poker, gambling and of course add in a celebrity. This time it's Vanessa Selbt of poker fame mumbling her lines in an attempt to give us some insight.

Crim. This series is trashed. And of course it ends with the kid passing a driver's test when the previous examiner said he was woefully bad. Perhaps just show him practicing once. Missed opportunity there.

Sadly it's not Billions anymore
StarbucksBatman23 September 2023
As written before me, yes, Billions is going downhill fast. The story became weak, the characters weightless. Wags, Dollar Bill and Taylor are all just shadows of their old selves.

I don't think Prince's character has ever been even remotely as interesting as Axe's. Also, Sacker's character has become totally uninteresting since she had started working for Prince. Any of her appearances on the screen are just filling the required minutes for the episode.

In previous seasons and episodes I could not look away from the screen and every episode felt like it was over in an instant. Now I was checking my phone for more interesting news but the episode still felt too long.

Paul Giamatti's acting keeps this boat still afloat but that alone is not enough unfortunately.

And DMV? Really?

Becoming too random and boring

Warning: Spoilers
Story is just becoming too random DMV story is so ridiculous. Random celebrity appearance is getting a bit too cheesy. And Vanessa Selbst really as an expert in gambling? She is by far one of the worst professional poker players I have ever witnessed.

Slacker and Taylor have become completely irrelevant as characters. Wags keeps getting annoying by the minute with his over used elitist attitude and dialogues.

Storyline is simply just becoming too random.

Really looking forward to seeing what the outcome is with Axe making a comeback while they keep dragging the storyline with nonsensical randomness.

Bait and Switch

Another Axe-less episode. I see now why Damian Lewis agreed to come back. He got paid millions for about a week's work. Nice one! Enduring another episode with insufferably arrogant Kate Sacker (Dola Rashad), I came to the conclusion that the North Korean method of using an anti-aircraft gun to dispose of its enemies would be appropriate. I despise her more than even the eminently despisable Mike Prince (Corey Stoll).

However, any episode that gives us a big helping of Chuck Rhoades, Sr. (Jeffrey DeMunn), is always welcomed and prevented an even lower rating from me.

As I wrote last week, I am now just completing my 7 year investment with no expectations of a return to Billions' former greatness, and this episode did not disappoint!
