DIXON HAS FALLEN

It was an intense episode for all the characters, specifically for Vic Hughes and Sean Beckett. Hats off to Vic! She made a precise reading of the situation and Beckett and without hesitation ran, stepped into Diane Miller mode to help. I sobbed right along with her.

That moment changed her, and I think changed us all as viewers. To have our hearts bleed for Beckett?! Something I never thought we'd actually do. There's something so powerful in seeing a man who has been caged in by his masculinity break down and allow himself to feel everything.

But to also see Vic's breakdown as inspiring, that she's really heading toward her calling. Dean definitely left Crisis One in the right hands and he would've been so proud of her.

Vic trying to use Beckett's personal items to instil that there's value in his life is so touching. Managing to engage Beckett through his hostility via a game of basketball... It's just so refreshing to see subtle recognition of how to engage someone through meaningful occupation.

One of the more satisfying moments of the episode was Chief Ross put Dixon in his place. I simply LOVE the way she speaks hard truths, isn't intimidated, and imposes herself with a perfect smile on her face (all praise to the most high, Merle Dandridge!).

My heartiest congratulations to Robel (whoever he is). I know I am not the only one who is glad that the election storyline is over and done with. Eli's anger towards Travis seemed a little extreme but whatever, the man likes him and I'm glad that they finally made up (and made out).

Reggie's return served as a good reminder to celebrate the wins, however small they may be. It was also exactly what Ben needed to get his head on straight. It's heartbreaking to see him beat himself up about the sober house call and the man he couldn't save.

I absolutely love the representation in this show and especially with the different ways to be a family. Voting also brought a blast from Jack's past, and it couldn't come at a better time as he weighed whether or not he wanted to accompany Brooke for a meal with one of his siblings.

It was great to see Marsha again, especially since she had become an integral part of Jack's family life outside the station. Her appearance served as a refresher for Jack that family comes in many forms and reminded him of what she's been to him.

In hindsight, Jack hasn't had any significant storyline all season. It was so heartwarming to see him reunite with Lila. I'm so glad he listened to post-spin Maya. It's been such a joy to watch these characters throughout the season and follow their healing journeys.

Speaking of Bishop, I low-key expected her to step back from the Captaincy race but didn't think she'd actually follow through with it. I LOVE that she's doing all this for herself and for her wife. Girlie's got her priorities straight.

It's also been great to see her avoid the chaotic drama that surrounds Sullivan, Ruiz and Herrera. While Sullivan is in no place to comment, Andy was wrong to disobey Ruiz (who is still acting captain) and go in and begin extrication on the couple stuck in the car wash. Still trying to wrap my head around how Maya got stuck in the spinning thing but it made for a light-hearted moment amidst the chaos between the lieutenants and the raw Beckett and Vic storyline.

Maya's decision to step back earned Carina her proof. Carina's initial comments did seem a little harsh and out of place (about Maya being like her father) but they did have some semblance of truth to them.

Maya was none the wiser that word got around to Carina and was absolutely dumbfounded when Carina shared that she was finally ready to come home.

This season has been so great in terms of representation. I love how we actually got to see them work towards rebuilding their relationship and I couldn't be happier that my favourite wives are healthier and MUCH better now.

It was such a great moment for the two. Maya was caught off guard, then elated.

Not only did we get Carina going back home for good but her ring is back on her finger and we also got a bridal carry! (DANIELLE SAVRE, YOU ABSOLUTE LEGEND! DROP THAT ARM WORKOUT ROUTINE RN!)

Marina has been to hell and back and Maya has been fighting like crazy to win her wife back so this triumphant reunion was just the perfect cherry on top.

It's been an emotionally wrought, raw season, but the fruits of that labour are incredibly sweet.

We've seen the work Maya put into herself and I hope that we see Beckett heal as well.
