Atrocious narration ruins this from the off
Gotrek_Fabian22 October 2023
I couldn't get past 5 minutes of this due to the narrator elongating every word to a nonsensical proportion. It seems he is putting on a husky voice too.

I wish that I could give a better opinion of the documentary itself but sitting through someone who can't act, trying to act really grated on me. In the effort to give the voice over some gravity he merely brought it to almost comical.

What I saw of the film footage seemed fine with good costumes and settings and some fitting iconography such as the crown of thorns, the crucifix, the nails and tools used to crucify Jesus.

I have never review scored anything this low before but I really couldn't hear that voice any longer.

Proof right here that nepotism doesn't often work. (Director and narrator are related)

Very insightfull

I enjoyed this as it gave me a detailed story of christ, with out having to wade through the bible. I am not massively religious myself, but I am slightly familiar with the story of christ, so this helped fill in the gaps for me and as a result, I found it rather entertaining and educational.

I thought the documentary flowed well, as it did not get stuck on anyone part of christs life and in that it delivered his story, in a consise manor, that did not feel rushed nor did it waste time. Well worth a watch in my opinion, as it was educational and entertaining in equal measures. Definately worth my time.

Wow!

The narrator.... I've never heard anything like it! I actually recommend everyone listen to at least a few minutes of this. It's like something one would imagine the Monty Python crew using in Life of Brian. I ended up giggling like a loon after mere seconds of the narration. It gets better as it goes on as it seems the narrator desperately need a drink and his monologue gets harsher. I give this a 10.

Aside from that hilarity, the historiography is non existent. The writer of the script appears to have no grasp of the issues other than his reading of the bible. The bible is rather dodgy as a historical source after all. Since this is presented as "factual" I have to give the show an overall 1.

Still worth a watch for the incredible narration! :)

An Eye Opener

I have an interesting relationship with religion, in that I still have an open mind about it, so I find documentaries that are fair and in the middle, very interesting and I would probably classify this documentary in that way.

We have all heard of Jesus Christ, but who he truly was, is the great mystery, that surrounds him.

I found this documentary, to be fair, as it asked questions, with out making acussations. It rather opens the discussion, in many original ways, that creates, a thought process, around, this mysterious man, who has helped so many around the world, with their belief.

Well edited thought prevoking piece of film.

Narrator skills are appalling
paevthym21 October 2023
This is the worst narrator I ever heard. To a certain extent I'm not sure whether it was done intentionally at such bad way. I am impressed that it went on Amazon prime.

The tone is exactly the same throughout the documentary. And every sentence starts and finishes in the same fashion as if this is a comedy show. It is the first time I voted such a low grade for a movie or documentary.

I am not a religious person but I find the way this documentary is done is disrespectful. If something similar was done for another religion, I wonder what would have been the reaction.

If all this was done unintentionally, I am happy to edit the whole thing and show them how to do their job, because I don't think they know what they are doing when creating this film/documentary.

Dreadful Narration - Intentionally Bad?
luluflannery24 October 2023
This must be the very worst documentary, or piece of film, I've ever seen. It made me cringe dreadfully.

Why would you make such a poor, shoddy piece of film, on purpose? Though it's too bad to have happened by error.

I only watched 11 minutes of it because I was waiting for the ridiculous voice to stop. Which of course, it didn't.

When I realised it was going to continue for the rest of the time, I had to turn it off.

I seriously had no idea what he was saying, or where the storyline might go, because it grated so much.

I'm not sure if it was meant to be a farce, but either way, it was unwatchable. 😐

Not factual
larbelle29 November 2023
Very little is mentioned in the Bible about Mary Magdalene except that she had been possessed by demons (apparently, along with the narrator of this documentary) and was a follower of Christ. The women they wanted to stone for adultery was not named.

Jesus was described in Isaiah 53:2 as having no stately form or splendor not "pretty damn ugly" as the documentary states.

My TV screen went black while watching this but I could still hear creepy voice. I had to unplug it to make it stop. It never worked again. Coincidence?

If you wants the facts about Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, read the Bible. God Bless.

A lot of Speculation and unfounded claims.
verahull12 April 2024
Like a lot of others, I only got about 8 mins in and couldn't bear the narrators over the top voice.

Also a lot of.conjecture. None of which is backed up with Biblical or historical evidence. This is just the narrators opinion. He's probably a Dan Brown fan too. There is absolutely nothing in scripture that would lead anyone to postulate that Jesus wrote a gospel. This should be renamed Jesus: my guesswork.

I think after reading all the reviews the one that saddened me the most is the one that said this documentary saves me having to read the whole of the Bible. Wow. People who seriously want to find out about Jesus have to read THE BIBLE.

The review that was full of oh this is an amazing piece of work I can only imagine is the narrator himself. Sad really.

If the narrator had spoken with a normal voice I may have watched until the end.
