A lighthearted and playful vampire comedy
Ahmad-Imran22 April 2023
Watched 3 episodes. So far so good.

A vampire comedy in the zone of Taika Watiti's "what we do in the Shadows" and probably inspired by the same, which is evident by the lighthearted and playful mood. But the world-building, the setup, and the characters are original and interesting and not copied.

Also, the title "Tooth Pary" itself suggests that the makers are not taking it too seriously, and neither should the audience, they should have fun while watching it.

A great ensemble cast includes veterans like Adil Hussain, Revathy, and Saswata Chatterjee.

Looking forwards to the remaining episodes, will update after completing the series.

Novelty , Decent Worldbuilding and some pretty great turns by veterans and newcomers alike
udayankanjilal1 May 2023
There's a lot here that is pretty awesome. Interwining a forlorn tale of love , longing and belonging with some delicious vampire lore based in Kolkata! The characters are etched out well and stalwarts like Rajatava Dutta , Saswata Chatterjee , Revathy , Anjan Dutta and Adil Hussain deliver the goods while Sikander , Sandeep and Tanya bring a lot of heart. Subhankar Bhar's camerawork is top notch as always. The fantasy genre finally gets some great worldbuilding in the Indian OTT space!

The graphics are competently done too. Kudos to the ever (pleasantly) surprising Pratim. D. Gupta! Excited for season 2!

Watchable, enjoyable yet lacks tightening loose ends of the plot
adityasen-7477629 April 2023
The Director has done a lot of hard work in this series which reflects from each and every scene of the series. The direction has its loose ends. Though the series at first takes good pace and puts audience in a suspense mode but at the end it leaves some loose ends which will create many questions among the audiences about the series and the consequences of the actions of the characters of the series. The acting of the whole cast is praise worthy. The editing is smooth. I think this series should have been released as a movie in theaters . I am sure it would have attracted box office collections. The Director has beautifully depicted the old lanes of Kolkata city and its bangaliana. Sikander Kher speaking bengali words reminds me of the tone used by Mithun Chakraborty in his hey days while pronouncing bengali words. Overall the series is watchable and enjoyable excluding some minor plot holes.

Worth watching
aazeenhussainali-3573220 April 2023
The story was greatly immersive especially the acting of the characters so yeah in short please watch this series. Now in long, story might be feeling too tedious and not well managed but this series age like a fine wine especially after episode 4 and most importantly you may feel this plot is some kind of a rip off, of any vampire Hollywood series or movie but actually it is just a story independent of its own. The perspective of who's on the right side and who is on the wrong side might be changing throughout the series and some characters might feel annoying at first but they indeed as this first season ends basically all become quite useful. Meanwhile the ending was the best part of the series with few hints regarding season 2. So yeah I think Netflix should start making its season 2.

Arsenal of good actors wasted on bad story and execution
SadOBlue24 April 2023
Not sure why these directors are trying to make TV series which are mainly for Indian Audience and revolves around Indian characters but the story is far removed from being Indian. It seems that these type of directors are heavily influenced by Hollywood horror movies but not in right ways. Instead of adopting modern movie making and storytelling styles and techincal expertises they are blindly following the age old Hollywood story tropes. And it's really funny watching Netflix falling for this types of contents.

Watching toothpari is like watching a Hollywood fan film(read series) made by a Hollywood fanboy.

One of the best in Netflix
ddebanjan4 May 2023
A lighthearted comedy which elements of emotions and actions.

Personally I find it extremeely engripping and enjoyable. Hope to see the season 2 asap. Apart for the sweet story and script , the one thing that attratcs more is the cinematography. THe DOP and director has beautifully captured the true yet the mysterious essence of Kolkata. ANd the cherry above the cake, is Adil Hussain. He totally attracts your attention in his every screen presence.

People form Bengal would find lots of element of surpises in this web series. The note where season 1 ends, is enought to raise the curiosity for the next installement.

Overall, its extremely fun to watch.

An Indianized vampire-human love story with multiple barriers.
pritypoddar24 April 2023
It's a vampire-human love story wherein a rebellious lady vampire with a damaged tooth and underground abode falls in love with a shy dentist on the streets of Kolkata, something which is a strict no-no!!

Presence of a vampire slayer witch and her team of Cutmundoos add on to the complexity.

Full Marks For:

... Originality and intelligent desification of foreign mythology.

... Applaud worthy cinematography of old Kolkata lanes and houses.

... Good acting by the entire cast, but Adil Hussain, Tillotama Shome and Sikandar Kher simply outshine everyone.

The lead pair Tanya Maniktala and Shantanu Maheshwari share good chemistry and strong onscreen presence.

Question Mark For:

... No clarification of hero or villain. No moral message at the end of it all !!

Do watch it !!

Good Concept has been spoiled !
firetheri24 April 2023
Below Average Series with too much of non logical modern feminism agenda.

She don't like to be judged and she can sleep with anyone but she is judging a guy ? (tbh, she don't deserved that kind of good guy). According to the logic of this series, she said its okay to kill the guy who cheating their wife, but later on what she is doing? Double Standard?

Indian directors, please grow up. Stop doing typical things in every series/movie. If you want to empower women, it doesn't mean you have show men as bad. In current social media generation they already got their freedom to do whatever they want. Still showing something happened past ? And now you guys encouraging them to humiliates and put down the men ?

The dialogues are totally out, rather than focusing on explaining about vampire in detail which could made the story more interesting, but you guys are talking about modern females non logical stuff which done in most of Indian movies/series.

Or you guys really don't have creativity to create unique emotional backstory for a female lead to build the character arc?

-5/5 tbh it was a good concept but totally has been spoiled.

Masterpiece
sagarrawat-896361 May 2023
"Tooth Pari: When love bites" is a modern day masterpiece of cinema, very well presented & directed by Pratim Da. Casting on point... This is something that audience should really watch... I look forward for some more of such movies... We have always criticised our Indian movies that they are not creating something new but here is something that they should give a try and really appreciate the vision as it is not easy for someone to put their vision practically but this one is very beautifully handled... If we talk about casting, the actors/actress were so well chosen for their roles... Well done !

above average show for free time watch
quantanatural21 April 2023
It is definitely fresh take for Indian show involving vampires and making love its central theme around it . This show actually took time to make me interested after 3 episodes. It might happen with you as well . Actually story was fresh and unique to me thats what made me to go for this show but at some point ,I felt direction of some vital scenes could be better .

Directions of some vital scenes made me disappointed , I wish it could have better directions to make us feel more emotional towards story but none of these is taking away anything from story. Story is still fine and fresh which will keep you intrigued.

Each individual's performance is commendable and cinematography is fabulous. Talking about its narrative , this shows tend to show how society is somewhat cruel towards women throughout long decades to even now which is true . It tries to break the barriers and norms set up by society and make our girl central character to whom story revolves around which was pleasing to watch . Few times show try to teach audience which is totally fine with me as long as I support them and I did support them but only one scene pissed me off which I can call body shaming towards man which you will get to know . And also in that same scene, trying to show pre-martial physical relations to make look "good" to audience is also "not right" . I am not saying it is bad either . I think it should be left upon the partners to decide and no one should influence their decision ,not even parents.

In this show everyone's character is given perfect motivations making it hard to determine who is right and wrong. It all depends upon the circumstances in which they are.

Overall, this show deserves a 7-star rating and is the above average show for a free time watch.

Slow movie with weak screenplay
qazifreelancer27 April 2023
What a wastage of time.

If you really want to see this movie, watch in 4x speed or may be more.

In starting episode it was OK but then they took a lot of time, lot of unnecessary scenes. Very boring I must say.

The story was average, very predictable, the main character had a good acting but they could make these series in 20 minutes short movie but they took lot and lot of space to cover the story.

Even if you are a monster lover, this movie will definitely disappoint you.

There are few scene you get thrilled but to be very honest, this movie is total wastage of your time.

I wish I could not waste my time by watching this movie.

Best Vampire series in India
kspavan-2571329 April 2023
One of the best vampire series I have watched in India, I mean there nothing that is unrealistic as such, the facts are correctly presented and the writer has kept it up throughout the series.

I love the role played by tanya, and obviously Doc Roy. The writer has tried his best to express the common issues that people go through usually, especially when you are a woman.

The writer also portray's the society of vampires and how they are considered to be a minority community (even though they are fictional)

Although, the writer could put a little more effects into the love part of the series.

Still a better love story than Twilight
DodoDroppings7 July 2023
I'm from Kolkata. I'm Bengali.

Now with that out of the way, let's delve in deeper, keeping the language, the locations and the popular regional actors aside.

The vampire lore, though age-old and weathered, feels fresh and looks delectable in this series thanks to enough fun (original?) elements sprinkled in throughout to charm and entertain. Funny with thrills; neither too dark nor too deep. The leads have been well written, with contrasting personalities and purposes. Good/evil, hero/villain lines have been blurred out, and it's not about taking sides with this one. The narrative manages to keep the turn of events quite interesting - nothing forced, nothing bland. The visuals look great too.

The "love story" has been given a fresh perspective. It's 'woke' and it mostly works for me. Rumi complements Roy in an 'opposites attract' kind of way, hence the lack of chemistry between the actors works in their favour. Loved the interactions between Rumi and Roy's parents. Loved how David and Meera also complement the Roys.

The Rumi-Kartick angle would surely turn heads, but I found it both relevant and relatable.

Tanya Maniktala looks ravishingly beautiful as Rumi (her eyes do most of the work though). Shantanu Maheshwari as the meek and likeable Roy plays his part really well. But it's Sikandar Kher who takes the cake. There's this uncut jaggedness about Kartick which he pulls off so well. Loved his scenes with the veteran actor Anjan Dutt. Revathi as Luna is a breath of fresh air.

I'd probably have done away with a few plot points. Didn't really care for some of the costume choices. The music's not that great either.

The season finale has set the stage for something bigger and probably better. Let's see whether we get there.

An engaging story line
resilienceclean23 April 2023
Well, it indeed has an engaging story line that falls in the realm of vampire and human romance. Even though some of the dialogues are a bit over the top kind of that can make one feel that they could have been tightened up, but still the story has enough in it to keep one interested till the last. That 'enough' is the love story between a vampire and a dentist. There are so many shades of the characters involved that one feels captivated. Like Rumi, her tragic human experience, her frustration after breaking up with the doctor and engaging in more mindlessness with sub-insoector Pal, portrays her vulnerability and a certain degree of human like frailties. Reminded me of the saying: 'Perfectionism is a delusion that dangles like carrot for purists to romanticize while inperfectionism rules the roost as evergreen and trendy perfectionism.' If the makers decide to make a season 2 they must ensure the dialogues, in some cases, are more polished. All in all, this version was an engaging watch.

Captivating web series with fairytale-like experience. Delve into the episodes to truly appreciate the magic
guptarya23 April 2023
Initially mistaken for just another frivolous Netflix series, this particular web series proved to be a captivating surprise. With a fairytale-like storyline that was supported by top-notch editing, music, cinematography, and acting, it managed to captivate viewers in a way that few others could. While the preview may not have done it justice, diving into the first episode itself will reveal the true magic that lies within. This series serves as a testament to the fact that creativity is not constrained by financial resources. Overall, an excellent choice for anyone seeking an enchanting escape from reality.

Not even close what it depicted
mabubakar-9683225 April 2023
I took a time so you guys dont waste yours. Theme was excellent but very poor story line no connection totally not worth it. Dont fall for its trailer. Bogus story will surely spoil your mood unexpected romance, lousy and unappealing chararcters (not properly match with their roles) many loose ends.

They even tried their best to make sure this season as worse as they can because theme of story was really interesting along with set. Vampire / Dracula - Human interaction stories are always appealing but if you like such stuff dont ruin your mood atleast. I usually not skip or fast forward but after bearing 4 episodes my patience level breached.

Good Luck to you if still wanna regret after watching ;)

Brilliant work of art
fakeovers23 April 2023
The Director brings yet another adrenaline-filled, love-inspired vamps to the screen. We see all sorts of familiar faces this time around, but the audience is introduced to a few new characters as well.

This series serves as great entertainment with its colorful cast and numerous plot twists. The director used actors that had either appeared in such a way all of them shone in their respective roles: Revati was almost unrecognizable in her Bane costume.

There were a few times when the story felt a bit drawn out, but the gorgeous biting scenes and impressive dialogue really held the audience's attention and kept them on the edge of their seats. However, the timeline was a bit unclear at times. For a number of scenes, it was hard to tell whether it had been days or months or years that had passed since the last time a given character had been on screen.

Despite the films minor shortcomings, ToothPari is exciting, creative, and dark-and well worth a few hours of your time.

Overall fantastic screenplay plot and out of the world direction ;)

A complete disaster
Himax00710 May 2023
I recently watched a web series called "Tooth Pari: When Love Bites" and I must say, I was thoroughly disappointed. The premise of a rebellious vampire falling for a shy dentist in Kolkata sounded intriguing, but unfortunately, the execution was lackluster.

Firstly, the acting was subpar. The actors failed to bring any depth to their characters, making it difficult for me to become invested in the story. The chemistry between the two leads was also lacking, which is especially disappointing considering the series revolves around their romance.

Furthermore, the writing was weak. The plot felt disjointed, and there were many unanswered questions left by the end of the series. The addition of mystical forces felt forced and underdeveloped, and left me feeling confused and unsatisfied.

Overall, "Tooth Pari" was a disappointing watch. The poor acting, weak writing, and lack of cohesiveness made for a frustrating viewing experience. I would not recommend this web series to anyone.

Finally an Indian Vampire I found Sexy .
vishalfzd-7438722 April 2023
So I was skeptical because of the past experience when an Indian director touches the Vampire angel. But I was lost while watching the series. Dialogues are written very carefully and hits the right spot in the brain and heart. And the lead actress's face has that poetic as well as devilish look and of course she is beautiful enough to make the viewer get lost in that dream world where director wants the viewer to get lost. All the 8 episodes are well connected and keeps the excitement for the next episode. Only one angel which I found was not written well was the benevolence of the Inspector , haha. Overall a must watch, best time to start at midnight ;).

Artistic !
gcpcddhbf12 May 2023
I hv not seen anyone has dare to film this concept in Indian movies or series, to good to watch this, everything was good in this series story line casting direction, and specially Tanya(Rumi) her eyes ! I heard vampires are beautiful but if its Tanya then I must say they are beautiful, my nickname is babu shona and I am also a Roy, I wish I could have mate with such a vampire in my life. Jokes apart, loved this concept. The mothers love towards her bouma was depicted so nicely it shows the modern educated bengali families real picture, I can see the same in my family too.

Thanks Netflix for making this scary beautiful love story.

Fun Watch for a Bong
geniusdost1 May 2023
Tooth Pari has been compared to the Indian version of the popular television series, Vampire Diaries, due to its dark and mysterious storyline.

Like Vampire Diaries, Tooth Pari is set against a backdrop of mystery and intrigue, with a range of supernatural elements and plot twists to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. The series also features a talented cast of actors from Tollywood (Anjan Dutta, Kharaj, Rajatava), who bring a sense of authenticity and realism to their performances.

One of the key strengths of Tooth Pari is its depiction of Kolkata, which serves as an immersive and atmospheric setting for the story. The city's unique culture and history are woven into the plot line, adding depth and richness to the narrative.

Tooth Pari features a stellar supporting cast (Saswata, Sikander Kher, Tillotama, Revathi, Adil), who bring depth and nuance to their characters, adding richness to the storyline.

Confusing language
angkangayen27 April 2023
After watching the trailer wanted to watch the full thing, story is interesting, but where 90% cast is bangali, language of the series should have been bengali. Or the cast selection should have been completely different.

It's really degrades the experience all total, listening to those great bengali actors try to speak hindi + bangali mix.

I tried but couldn't listen to this confusing language more than 2 episode.

This is such a waste of talent and a good script. I was interested to watch this after watching the trailer but after 2 episode this has spoiled my mood to watch the series.

I wish a bengali version will release soon or later, Or else I'll have one more unwatched good story Best of luck to those who can tolerate the language.

A whimsical tale about a vampire; who falls for a diffident dentist. A treat to watch series!!
rairuben1 May 2023
I really loved the way, the director has approached the story. It's original and a fresh take on this vampire world; which is the least explored genre in the country. So, it's a challenge for every filmmaker to make his or her story work, when there aren't enough materials available on the subject. However, the director has pulled it off so effortlessly well.

The story centres around a rebellious vampire named Rumi, whose tumultuous love life is at the heart of the narrative. Doc Roy, her love interest is a sweet and shy person. Kartik Pal, an alcoholic police sets out on a journey to investigate a mysterious case; which is quite spooky and uncertain. How these characters' paths cross with one another, only time will tell. Pratim Dasgupta sir, who is the director of the series, has beautifully written each character, has given the back story, which helps the audience to connect to these characters' emotional struggles and elation at certain stages.

As the series progresses, it becomes more interesting and you would want to know more about Rumi's journey, her past and the complexities that engulf her life. Loved this Indian version of vampire story, which is deeply rooted in bewitching Kolkata. That makes it extra special, because of its past colonial history and cultural heritage; it sort of convince the masses that such world could exist within the city. Kolkata's exquisite landmarks have been beautifully and seamlessly incorporated into the storyline. It enhances the visuals of the series by leaps and bounds. It's a must watch series! How can you miss out on an opportunity to watch such content, that is quirky, romantic, gruesome, emotional and has a slice of humour. So it's a full package of entertainment.

Not for Indian viewers
sameerlodaya20 April 2023
Sameer lodaya

The series is purely not meant for Indian viewers

I started watching and some how completed the first episode then I couldn't dare to watch the series further..the first episode itself will tell you whether you want to go ahead

The content is from which world only the makers know it's all about a community which lives on human blood every time they bite people and collect blood now this community has a head who doesn't allow them to go out of the cave he has made for these people and there are strict rule which the members have to follow or they can be killed

The series has so many big actors but all are engaged in blood matters

If you like this kind of bloody content and the same you can watch for 8 episodes then you can dare.
