In November 1996, 16-year-old Malin Lindström disappeared without a trace. It wasn't until six months later that her body was found and it was clear that she had been the victim of a sexual murder. An 18-year-old man was long the prime suspect, but the murder has remained unsolved. A completely improbable chain of events in recent years has led to HD granting a stay and the case is now being re-examined. André Pops and Lasse Lampers review the case over the past 26 years. Supported by abundant archival material, we follow the police investigation from Malin's disappearance until the case was retried. We also get to share in the fight for closure and justice that Malin's parents have fought over the years.

When Malin Lindström's body was found, the police took advantage of an extremely small semen stain from her pants. The spot was too small to be analyzed with the technology of the time. Only nearly 20 years after the murder had technology caught up and now the case entered a new and sensational phase. But not without a series of legal obstacles along the way.
