Masterful show

Warning: Spoilers
We have a flash forward to Rose doing a commercial in 1973. Currently in 1961 Midge is getting an offer to join a show and write scripts for a t.v show. Then we see a flashback to 1954 with Joel and Abe, Abe tells him to not corrupt his son. We then find out Ethan is doing poorly in school and Abe has a go at Joel. This show continues to be great, with its trademark rapid fire and witty dialogue. We know from previous flash-forwards that Midge is going to make it to the top. But the ride has been really interesting over the series to watch. The ups and downs and everything in between. Rachel Brosnahan is so amazing in this show she is on her way to becoming a comedy legend. Amy Sherman Palladino is one of the great writers and show runners in television history. Her show will go down as one of the greatest pieces of comedy ever created for television. I will truly miss it.

Welcome guest star Hank Azaria as Danny Stevens
dfloro12 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Things are awkward between Midge's talk-show host boss, Gordon Ford (Reid Scott), and her since she declined his sexual advances, and he declined to make an exception for her to his hard & fast "no writers as talk-show guests" rule. After giving a sitcom celebrity (played to a tee by the always wonderful Hank Azaria) a sage, if obvious (to an audience of comedic know-it-alls) piece of advice, Azaria as Danny offers her a job on a new, female-led sitcom he's developing; which Gordon jealously counters by raising her salary to equal those of the male writers on his show ("threatening our whole civilization!"). And Gordon's new, young producer gets Midge a slot in a tryout for Jack Paar's legendary talk show, which despite killing with the bar crowd present, ultimately is not successful for her. Then we see something we've rarely if ever seen in 5 seasons of this great series: Mrs. Maisel cries profusely & throws things in frustration. It's a great episode (including subplots with her manager, ex-in-laws and parents) which I've described in such detail to encourage more folks to get addicted to it, and to binge to catch up before the upcoming series grand finale. I rate it 9/10 stars (and note that I've rarely ever bestowed a perfect score).

Hank Azaria... yes!

Best episode of the series for me.

The episode largely continues the story in the 1960s with Midge working on the Gordon Ford show. Less time jumping than other episodes. A sizeable chunk focuses on Midge's career which ultimately is the bit we are invested in.

There's no time stolen to peculiar storylines about Carol Chan(n)ing or Waste Management. But still some classic Weissman chaos courtesy of the Happy Group and pink toilets.

There are some captivating little emotional moments. Suzie faces a conflict, which is beautifully executed and I really felt for her.

Hank Azaria is just wonderful.

Nice Focus on Midge's Future

We have some choice bits. First of all, we get more of Tony Shaloub this time as he brings out a book that tells what has happened to boys in his family, going back years, when they turn six years old. They become geniuses. But he finds out that his grandson is not talented at anything. He is in a special group called the happy group where everyone is just happy. They can't do math, or read well, or build things. They dance around a table endlessly. We see the reappearance of Joel as the true love, the man who made the mistake. There are so many choice focuses on Midge and her efforts to get Susie to get working for her. I always enjoy what goes on in Susie's office. It is one of the best examples of zany interaction one can have. Loved it.

Watching this episode as it airs.. Worried about the finale
Latifmmovies15 May 2023
I am enjoying the show since it started, this season I feel some arcs are taking a bit longer than the usual momentum of MMM, so Mr/Mrs Writers., I hope you see this.. I hope you still have an opportunity to fix things, the main storyline is lingering and our lovely Mrs. Maisel is still struggling big time.. i am worried there will be a rushed sequence of unfolding events ruining a long-waited triumph for Midge. Not seeing enough build-up and properly cooked evolution of her career turnaround will really spoil the last season and leave everyone with a bitter taste, regrettably joining the unpopular club of great shows with most hated finales... Watch out writers.. you better pick up the pace in this little window remaining.

What in heavens name happened!?!

After last week's all eight cylinders firing, out and out masterpiece of a show, this one tanked and tanked, and then tanked agaun. Yes, there was a theme running through the episode about whether women can really make it on their merits, but it got lost in one scene after another without form, shape or humor. In fact, the humor and repartee was forced to the point of painful. We love the performers, but they were given subpar material, absurd unbelievable situations, such as aptitude tests for 6 year old. Furthermore, the show within a show which began and ended the the episode was painfully unfunny full of corny oversentimentalization. In conclusion, this third from last closer was not thought out especially in the disconnection from one scene to the next. Hands-down, the worst and most embarassing episode of all five seasons, above all, for the actors.
