A Murder is Announced.
Sleepin_Dragon22 February 2023
Neville receives an anonymous letter in the post, detailing that a murderer would be executed that same day, with no clues as to who or why, Neville learns of a water taxi driver who's found floating in the sea.

The standout episode from this series so far, I loved the story, I also loved the hugely dramatic ending, very imaginatively written with a big twist. I've enjoyed the series so far, but this was the first time I felt wowed by an episode.

A few chuckles throughout, the scenes with Neville's Tue were amusing.

Patrick Kennedy was awesome as David Cartwright, he gave a brilliant performance, it was a real game of cat and mouse, he has some real presence, his character played off Neville very, very well. Best performance from Ralph Little so far.

Nice to see The Police up against a super intelligent villain for a change, not something we often get to see on Death in Paradise.

9/10.

The Best Yet
Subtlesecret13 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This has to be the best episode of the entire set of series yet. It has more twists and turns than a rattlesnake and the final twist is the most startling yet.

Di Cartwright investigates the death of a water taxi driver and, as usual, there are a number of suspects, and more twists and turns than you can shake a stick at. But this time it becomes apparent that the police themselves are being manipulated and played at their own game. Cartwright himself becomes a suspect in a murder, and is charged with it. It remains to be seen what happens next. At the end of the episode, we are left hanging. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Fantastic and different

Warning: Spoilers
Omg the one stupid review on here putting a 4 on it is nuts. This whole season had been great. And hard after 12 years to come up with something different. But they've done it with this one with the Inspector being arrested for murder.

It's also a two parter. There's been tons of intrigue with mysterious letters being sent to Inspector Parker. His house being ransacked etc. And even though I have my strong suspicions on whose been behind(and in that case and because of the acting and direction pointing to this person) I'm marking it down one point to 10.

I hope the second part stays intriguing but of course exonerates Neville. Considering haven't heard of Ralf Little leaving the series I'm sure he will be.

A game changing episode
safenoe19 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was directed by Angie de Chastelai Smith, and wow, things really come to a head for Neville, or is it David Cartwright (chillingly played by Patrick Kennedy, who I think could play Hannibal Lecter in a Broadway reboot if there ever was one) playing with Neville's head. Anyway, things come to a head (sorry I keep on repeating the word head) when Neville is arrested for the murder of David.

Could Neville really have done the murderous deed or what? Well, things come to a head in the next episode, but wow, all the loose ends are pretty much tied up in the next episode.

When I was watching this, I released how far Neville has come. Originally he was the itchy and scratchy type, itching and scratching himself with his wheezing all the time. But thankfully that was dropped after probably some audience focus groups to get the writers back on track.

A great episode!

Warning: Spoilers
"A Murder Forewarned- Part 1" is a great episode, some of the best entries to the series I've seen in a while. The episode isn't perfect, the ending is a bit rushed, but the rest is truly fantastic.

. The production values of the episode are great as usual. The direction's very good, so is the choice of music. Ralph Little does give one of his best performances as Parker and Patrick Kennedy is quite intimidating as David Cartwright. Really liked the game between Cartwright and Parker.

. The mystery is hugely compelling with lots of twists and turns. The pacing is neat too.

Overall, a real surprise.

9/10 HK.

Episode 6

Warning: Spoilers
Jake Dalton is a water taxi driver whose body is found in the sea. Meanwhile DI Neville Parker receives an anonymous letter telling him that a murder will take place.

The main suspect is Jack's wife Rose. She has lied to the police, she was having an affair with tutor Henry Baptiste.

There is evidence that the crime took place in her house and the body was later moved. The floor was cleaned with bleach.

DI Parker cannot get his head around the fact, why would Rose send a letter to the police if she planned to kill her husband.

The kind of person who might attempt such a clever cat and mouse scenario is David Cartwright. A retired criminologist who has moved to Saint Marie.

Cartwright used to be regularly consulted by the British police. Rose Dalton worked for him as a cleaner. He initially gave her an alibi, as she was cleaning his house at the time of the murder.

Only Cartwright cannot be a suspect, he was doing a live webcam presentation from his living room. DI Parker has a theory as to how Cartwright could had killed Dalton, but proving it is going to be difficult.

An angry DI Parker goes to confront Cartwright and later finds himself being arrested for murder.

The latest series has gone for an arc. It made you think that Sophie might be in danger by someone looking to get revenge on Parker.

Now it seems some unknown force might be conspiring against Parker himself.

Series 12 is suffering from poor writing
rosey-1416 February 2023
I have loved this programme for all of runs, for me Ardal was the weakest character lead. This series has a stellar support cast, for me possibly the best line up they've had but unfortunately the storylines have also been the weakest. The series needs a bit of stability in the cast to develop relationships again if it is to continue to a series 13, all of these 'will he won't he leave' is just leaving the viewers with a possibility of yet another lead going. Ralf Little isn't the strongest of actors, but with a support cast like this, it's easily smoothed over.

If there is a series 13, I hope they improve the storylines and get to grips with the continuity errors. Maybe it's just had it's day.
