Sister Boniface and the gang are horrified to discover all the hallmarks of a ritualistic human sacrifice in the woods, supposedly acted out by a coven of witches! The corpse is identified as local woman Jackie Rice, leading the team to discover timid dinner lady Heather Hartwood attempting to burn witchcraft paraphernalia at Jackie's house.
Not my most favourite episode as I found the mystery quite dull, however the tongue-in cheek elements, Sister Boniface visualising her fellow nuns as witches in the cinematic fashion, Tom Thomas and his clear diction (Not!) and the reverend sister's over the top hamminess made this watchable. There's this zaniness in abundance scattered around this great series. I find it far more entertaining than Father Brown, which is good, too.
