Seriously... stop with the mission/quest of the week
iamjohhnylaw25 January 2023
I like this show and don't have many complaints but literally only one episode out of five thus far into season 2 has advanced the narrative at all. In the third episode we got to finally see what happened to Commander Cody after the events of Revenge of the Sith way back 18 years ago in 2005. That is the kind of thing we fans are actually interested in, not some stupid treasure hunt that was way too poorly written to be even remotely compelling. Wanda Sykes is not a welcome addition to the cast either. She is congentially incapable of playing any character other than herself. This entire idea of them working for Cid has worn thin and is obviously just a vehicle for the writers to find something for our favorite clone force to do every week. The only positive was Omega wasn't doing anything that she needed to be rescued from. That alone was refreshing. I'm beginning to lose interest honestly. The writers have a perfect opportunity to explore the early Empire and are squandering it with pointless filler.

Filler
pauli_gomez27 January 2023
That. It is not an awful episode per se, especially if you see it as an homage to Indiana Jones. But it has no substance. There are random monsters, the thing they discovered is a one use thing which makes no sense, there is no explanation or discovery about what the thing was or its purpose. And it seems that nothing really matters. It is an episode you can skip without missing anything, or at least that is what appears to be the case so far.

Besides that, I think the season itself has a drop in quality, especially in the animation. I still like the music and the voices though. But I am not liking this season as much as the previous one.

Holy s***, it's a Tallneck!!
zaheerali-361313 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Holy s***, it's a Tallneck!! Come on my Horizon fans. Someone one has to know what I'm talking about. But yeah, the episode was meh at best. Nothing special. Like a Padme or droid episode in Clone Wars. Doesn't really add to the story and none too interesting, but it wasn't a horrible episode either. It was just, meh. Oh! Wanda Sykes voice really goes against the grain. I would've rather had Zoe Saldana or Aisha Tyler voice that lady. Wanda's voice is just way too comedic. You instantly assume the character is a buffoon in some way. Sorry Wanda. Love your comedy. Maybe Star Wars isn't your thing.

Indiana Clones
timfriedelt25 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Even if this episode didn't progress the main story at all (which I don't mind, filler episodes were common in CloneWars too) we got lore about a new(?) planet!

My guess is that the machine (whoever may have built it) destroyed all mechanical thinks on the planet - I mean it really *chased* Mell and the ship.

The badass-looking monster (would be awesome if it's a zillo-beast) probably killed the survivors which is why the planet is pretty much abandoned and why it looks like everything has been burned to the ground (maybe it's just Space-Australia, who knows)

Only thing I don't understand is why the crystal/heart melted. Doesn't make any sense to me.

But the soundtrack was amazing and the episode gave me Uncharted, Jedi Fallen Orders, Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider vibes so I enjoyed it!

Frustrating, but saved by Kevin Kiners Masterclass
maxamam25 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
After the amazing episode 3, we are confronted with another painfully mediocre story. The idea of the homage to Idiana Jones is cute, though there have been better homages in the Star Wars Universe like the Bounty Hunters Clone Wars Episode. This beeing the second filler in a row and an obvious hint for the next episode to be just as this one, the show doesn't really give me something to be hyped for next week :/ I really enjoy the good episodes in this show but it's making it hard for me to love it because the endless pointless fillers, which put the series below Clone Wars Season 1 Level. I really hope we'll see some good episodes again, for the sake of the series.

Nevertheless I still have to point out the AMAZING score by Kevin Kiner and Co. Really saves the Episode. Would've been a 4/10 without the music but I'll give a 6/10 just for the score.

STOP hating entertaining episodes!!!
moritzherz29 January 2023
After the last episode that was filler but still entertaining we get another filler episode but it's even more entertaining.

I think most of the people today forgot that kids shows like The Bad Batch have one single target: To get children entertained!

Children do not care if the episode is filler or not, they just want a good entertaining experience. And this episode does this very good!

The episode also adds character to the pirate introduced in the second season premiere and expands the lore about the ancients. Star Wars fans got their weakly piece of cake.

I say it again stop hating kid shows for doing their job. You're highly anticipated climax will come! Have patience little soka.

The Bad Batch needs to start deciding what it wants to be.
poseyfan25 January 2023
Another inconsequential episode. I just don't care about all these side missions and I'm sure many feel the same.

Episode 3 was fantastic and I was hoping we would get more like it. So far, it's been more low-key mission-of-the-week. I wouldn't be as frustrated with this show being light-hearted, but I know that it can be SO much better. Give me the EMPIRE, give me second guessing clones who are questioning Order 66, give me intricate character arcs.

At times the atmosphere is too childish and I can't take it seriously. 'Entombed' in particular gave us no deliberate reason why it should exist. Maybe that's a bit harsh, but who knows.

In the end, The Bad Batch needs to choose between being a war drama focused on the Empire and the peripheral clones, or an easy-watching kids show.

Adult reviewers acting like children
DGPTA12 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
You guys know this is a kids show, right? Yes, you are an adult watching a kids show, accept that fact now. The way you people are expecting Oscar winning narrative from a meager little animated series that is actually quite well done is just...unfortunate. To say the least.

So what if it's a filler episode. Mando is full of filler. Clone Wars was full of filler. You realize this isn't the last season of Bad Batch, yeah? What's your rush? Why can't we just enjoy a fun, classic sci-fi adventure on occasion?

I can agree it had plenty of cliché adventure tropes, but, for a 10-14 year old who isn't jaded by action adventures sequences, this is going to blow their freaking mind. Star Wars is a universe for 'all' ages, not JUST for the people who grew up with it.

This is literally as Star Warsy as it gets. The mech was epic, its destruction was epic, tapping into pre-Republic lore is epic, treasure hunting is epic...come on now.

I do agree Wanda Sykes was probably the weakest part of the episode. I like Sykes, but, she seemed out of place in this one. I do think she could've had a place in Star Wars, but adventurous treasure hunting pirate just isn't it. Snarky cantina owner maybe, space mechanic, information trader, something like that would have been much better for her, in my opinion.

Anyways, I think these reviews are being WAY too harsh, and I'm sure mine will get downvoted to Hell. You people have insanely unrealistic expectations for this show and seem to enjoy setting yourself up for disappointment. Once you finally accept Bad Batch for what it is...a TV-14 animated series that isn't geared towards adults, though also isn't necessarily made for kids, but instead for Star Wars fans in general...you will find that you're far less angry all the time and might actually get some enjoyment out of what has been a very enjoyable season.

Grow up already! 8/10.

So boring, another boring filler
binhcanguyen25 January 2023
I though last week episode "Faster" was the worst episode in season 2 but I was wrong when this week episode "Entombed" releases. No character development, the plot doesn't move forward.

Last week episode is filler but at least it gave Tech's character development and set up Cid's betrayal. I hope this episode "Emtombed" will continue what "Faster" episode set up but it doesn't. It just a boring and useless "Mission of the week" with Phee Genoa instead of Cid and has no connection with the previous episode.

I feel like The Bad Batch show wastes its potiental. This show should have tell the story about the foundation and growing of the Empire, about Order 66, inhibitor chip, and mainly the conflict between Crosshair such as the first three episode. I want more deep and dark episode just like "The Solitary Clone" episode and Andor's series. Some filler can be added but it must connect to the previous episode and give character development, world-building, etc unlike this week episode "Entombed".

Ridiculous reviews
simbrubie3 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Reading these negative reviews makes me laugh. Adults get upset about an episode in a children's series. Just ridiculous.

Why don't you take the episode for what it is: an interlude in the whole story and a tongue-in-cheek homage to Indiana Jones, which is even reflected in the music.

Again, it's a children's series, made to entertain children.

And for those who mock the lack of background on the Destroyer: Anyone with some knowledge of fantasy and science fiction can figure out that the former inhabitants of the planet built a weapon of war that turned against them and destroyed the planet.

And who knows, the allusion to the age of the weapon might be a hint to the upcoming movie, which is supposed to be set 25'000 years in the past of the events in the Star Wars canon.

So, calm down, sit back and enjoy the show.

Good lord!

Why Wanda Sykes?
buddrud-2719428 January 2023
This is really a good show. I've enjoyed the who idea of it. But the addition of Wanda Sykes voice is grating and annoying. There are many other voice actors out there who can do a much better job, and probably would cost less. Rhea Perlman was a great addition as Cid. Earnie Hudson guest staring in the previous episode to this one was great. But why Wanda? Her cadence is slow and doesn't flow with the story. There has to be someone else with a smoother voice to keep up with the rest. Good Lord, her comedy isn't even funny anymore. Otherwise, it was a decent episode despite a bunch of other reviewers saying it's just 'filler'.

Season 2 takes a nosedive
conshb8 February 2023
In the midst of so much negativity in the Star Wars fandom I usually don't like being so negative. But I've genuinely never been so bored by an episode of TV. No character development, no theme, nothing funny or even fun in the slightest. It was like watching a bunch of unremarkable, archetypal characters figure out a video game puzzle level for 20 minutes. Entombed was a struggle to watch and I had to take a couple of breaks to force myself to finish it.

It's not even that I mind side-quest or perceived 'filler' episodes. Star Wars Rebels excels at the art of those kind of stories, throwing in fun missions in different corners of the galaxy - they're unrelated to any kind of overarching plot, but you get to know the characters better as they're put in situations which challenge aspects of their personalities. The Bad Batch rarely focuses on any one character and as a result I don't feel particularly invested in any of them.

You can knock it out of the park with occasional episodes all you want, if the work isn't put into the characters with smaller episodes like this, it will amount to nothing.

Very interesting episode
ingra8825 January 2023
It looks like the BadBatch series has run out of steam!

But then I could be very wrong, these couple of episodes could be a filler to something bigger later!

It's like watching a Indiana Jones story and Lara Croft with a mix of Star Wars.!

Still entertaining, in this story could be creating a new world and staring to put some legends to canon maybe!

A story central to the very old and ancient civilisation, a time before the. Jedi, or even older as they said!

I like where this is going in terms of looking at things in a new direction whilst not forgetting who the characters are and their purposes!

Back to filler of the week...
Universal_Reviews25 January 2023
After last week's episode being kind of a let down, I was thinking they couldn't possibly have two back to back filler episodes - never have I been so wrong. This episode was worse than last week. It was irrelevant to the overarching story arc with little to no character development unless the team behind the show considers Hunter complaining good character development.

The animation was grace for applause. There were some stunning visuals in the episode but it doesn't make up for the fact that the story is irrelevant and completely uninteresting.

While watching the episode, there were many times where I wanted to just put it down and stop watching but I couldn't because I needed to write this review. I recommend to any fans of this show to skip this episode and wait till next week, it'll make no impact whatsoever.

The only thing this episode succeeds in is letting fans down. 4/10.

Mission of the week + Indy + Mystery = Success
andcares-1774328 January 2023
Not much new to say here... except that I do enjoy the mission of the week dynamic in this show (and in The Mandalorian from time to time). This one was quite fun and reminiscent of Indy films, and I frankly enjoy that in Star Wars from time to time. I wonder if Phee will eventually cross paths with Doctor Aphra, so there's a potentially fun connection. Also this could eventually lead to some significant ancient civilization lore, which could also open up new possibilities in a Star Wars Universe that continues to grow in unexpected directions across media. So it's all good for a random Wednesday.

Another Miss
filmcc2330 January 2023
This is another poor episode of the bad batch that manages to not only have no good background content, it also has totally zero character development or major plot. The overall plot of the episode is very weak, it's a treasure hunt following information Omega randomly finds in a scrapyard(????). What follows is poor action and a badly written episode with an annoying guest main character.

I'll freely admit the main thing I like about the Bad Batch is the setting so anything deviating from that is probably going to disappoint me but this episode is particularly poor. But please either make the show childish rubbish or a good show depicting the begining of the empire from the Bad Batch's point of view, mixing the two is just off putting.

Could've Been Interesting
BenRaeside25 January 2023
Well we've got another pretty skippable episode of the Bad Batch this week. It's always hard to get ready for more Star Wars and then have an episode like this be presented. It does have potential but with the new character being very irritating and some of the dialogue not being up to par, it does end up losing points.

I did have a bit of anticipation for this as it could've been interesting. They go to this place and it's dated over 1000 years old. It would have been very interesting to see something tie into the Old Republic but for the life of me I can't find any connections here. The only thing I can grab on to is that it looks like it has something to do with the Zeffo from Fallen Order.

Overall pretty boring episode that should be fun but ends up being a little more irritating than anything else as we have a very intriguing story going on in the wider Star Wars galaxy.

Not What I Expected
ldarthj25 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode surprised me. I was thinking that it would be just another 1-episode adventure mission which I myself have often called -perhaps too harshly- filler... and while it did fall into that category, I see definitely feel that this season has done a better job with the episodic format. Last week, they used a podrace knockoff to also greatly develop characters like Tech. In this episode, I was about to roll my eyes with the tropes of getting separated in tunnels by falling rocks and the like, but at the same time my mind was working double overtime to see if this tomb was connected to Zeffo culture. And then the end shocked me by being surprisingly epic. So this episode felt well worth my time, and developed the new character naturally.

Awful episode.
Lozzen31 January 2023
An absolute awful episode. I'm not sure if 'Phee Genoa' ever was introduced before, but her character is perhaps the worst written character to ever grace this show with its presence. Who greenlighted this?

As others have said, the format is really tiresome. The mission of the week type of storytelling isn't a good match for a small show like the bad batch and especially not when the episode is as badly written as this one. It literally felt like a filler episode and that's such a massive waste, considering a season has like 13 episodes or something to spare for a budget.

Please get it together, Disney. You had something good with the first season, but it's getting really tiresome now with the lack of vision for this project. Maybe you should just have ended it with the first season.

Not every episode needs to further the narrative
falcoa31 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
It was not a bad episode. I like episodes like this, that flesh out secondary characters and reinforce the main ones. A bit of history that adds to Star Wars Canon, and a bit of fluff for people who just like the series and want more of the characters.

I don't need more narrative with every episode, I want to see the world flesh out, the world become more integrated into Star Wars. A little homage to Indiana Jones is fun (along with the similarities in the music). This is the kind of Easter Egg we want and expect from these series. People who want nothing, but narrative should just skip to the end of every episode.

What is happening?
Badger121026 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Is there a story arc planned for this season? 5 episodes in and it seems to be 3 filler episodes in a row.

This episode is a partial rip off of Indiana Jones. The characters stumble upon a wayfinder, er, i mean a compass. This compass leads them to buried treasure but watch out, you have to solve riddles and puzzles and oh no, now you are inside a destructive monster, SMH!

After episodes 1 and 2 there are no ramifications of that failure and it isn't even eluded to until this episode where after a whole bunch of destruction, no ramifications!

A story arc better form or these stories need to get way better.

Ep. 9 Style disappointment
gnev-4654125 January 2023
This was such a lame episode. If there wasn't Feloni stamped onto it I would not believe it came from him. While Ep. 3 was absolutely outstanding and 10/10 and the best Bad Batch by far, this has been the worst of any Disney SW animation.

The main character is another stereotyped Admiral Holdo radical activist kind of character, annoying and meaningless. The main plot evolves a around a randomly found MacGuffin, which they find in a pile of junk, which is indeed a brilliant indicator for the quality of the further story to come. First of all this makes absolutely no sence what so ever - as the rest of the story - as it really makes sense that on all the billion of planets with billions of junk yards with trillions of junk parts our heroes find that one Mac Guffin. But JunkPileMcGuffin turns out to be something super duper which of course only Space Holdo 2 notices, cause she surely has studied ancient space civilizations.

But it gets even worse. MacGuffin unlcocks of course another even more meaningless and boring Mega MacGuffin. Then some trouble arises so Mega MacGuffin needs to be chased. Congratulation if you havent fallen asleep by now, but dont be too proud as it probaly just has been you shaking your head was what kept you awake.

Only thing missing was Admiral Holdo 2 flying around like Marry Poppins in EP. 9 and singing. Just the rain this time are the tears of the Star Wars Fan subscribers.

Please Disney if you are unable to write any good female characters - like you constantly proven - consult George Lucas or revive Padme if you dont have any other idea, Please give me some cool female characters like Leia, Padme or Shin Erso and of course our favourite Ahsoka Tano and Cara Dune, but not this. And the thing is I am not hating, everyone has the right to produce as horrible character writing as they will, but I have the right not wanting to pay for that. I am paying you to see a decent story and not being lectured. I pay Udemy for that.

Oh yeah and some story wouldn't be bad either in particular if you blew it with the characters already.

This was Indiana Jones meets Star Wars and I am here for it!!!!! I loved it!!! My kids really loved it!! I don't understand some of these reviews. I need this Bad Batch to get a movie!! If you can put aside your grown up BS and, watch these shows with the heart of a child you will enjoy it a-lot more. Some of these reviews act like they are looking for these shows to fix everything wrong with their lives. Get over it. Wanda Sykes as a guest character is just the humor influx we needed I hope she hooks up with Tech. I am super invested. These episodes are Freaking great I may watch them again!!

bad batch season 2 episode 5 - star wars' identity crisis
joeisboss27 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The potential of this show is huge, and offers what could be a more captivating storyline than even the clone wars, but it can't decide when it wants to take itself seriously. The episodes focusing on the empire, the clones, and the ramifications of order 66 are really well done and interesting but we've only seen it once so far this season, in by far the best episode of the season. This one is just another loose mission, and while i do understand these filler episodes place in the series (faster setting up cyd's betrayal and this one possibly setting up phee's pirate connection to other well known characters like hondo) it just doesn't push the story at all or develop the characters. I'm still waiting on the day where we really get into echos character because there's so much potential there but the show is just not realizing it. This episode was fine, but the season needs to make its point quick before it loses its audience.

Not sure who's more bored, me or the writers
sevskirita11 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The premises for these episodes are getting paper thin. "This compass for sure leads to treasure!" Or... it could just be a compass with someone's home world coordinates mapped on it as a trinket. Silly that not even the clones come up with that rhetort.

"Why would anyone want to hide treasure on an uninhabited desolate planet?" Seriously? That's like the primary place you'd hide it if you didn't want it to be found...

This whole episode is just goofy and bad. Surely there's some better story to do a Hunter Gets Whimsical arc. There's so little character conflict and so many characters standing around for the writer to progress things that I'm constantly being bored to tears. Can't believe the head of the team for The Clone Wars came up with this garbage. Late season Simpsons episodes are more engaging than this.
