This episode sees Borowski and Brandt investigating the death of a well-known writer on his yacht. They learn from his ex-wife that he was gay and was planning to come out soon
when they bump into a recently promoted politician at the dead man's house it would appear that they have an early suspect; a 'family' man leading a double life. A second possible motive emerges when they learn that before his death he was working on a book about the death of a politician in Geneva in 1987. This earlier death was considered a suicide but conspiracists have no end of theories involving numerous state agencies. Barowski thinks these ideas are mad but Brandt isn't sure that the new murder isn't related to the events of '87. A contact in Geneva says he has information that might be useful but he will only discuss it in person so Borowski and Brandt head to Geneva.
This was an interesting story with plenty of suspects with varied motives. Often when characters in mystery series go abroad for a significant part of a story it is just an excuse to show them in a new location but here it works nicely probably because they only go to a neighbouring country that doesn't look that different and it avoids the clichés of run-ins with the local authorities. I liked the fact that the '87 case was neither shown to be the work of some shady organisation not proved beyond doubt to be a suicide. When the case of the man on the yacht is solved the killer isn't too obvious but neither is it a total surprise. Overall another solid episode.
