A fresh plot
kalaivanicuteheart12 March 2023
This movie was just amazing and unpredictable. A very strong characterization of Santhosh. He is the show stealer. He is too good in the movie to get over with. Absolutely stunning performance by Charlie, Varu, the mother as well as the supporting characters including Sentrayan. All credits to the director and the writers of the movie. The story and screenplay is unique and has never been seen before. The anti role by Varu was fabulous that I almost developed a wrath towards her by the end of the movie. Take home message is 'what desires can do to your life'. Besides one dialogue by sentrayan, a blind man in the movie was outstanding which meant people with eyes and yet go in the wrong way are truly blind. Special mention to the bgm for pulling us into the story more.

Paisa Wasool Movie
krishr-0158013 March 2023
The intrigue and tension in Kondraal Paavam are whole packages. The film's incredible turns and surprises keep you on edge right up until the very end. The movie's conclusion is entirely improbable. Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar in particular stands out among the cast members for her excellent acting. Her part is crucial as the main female character, and she has played it admirably. In addition to Charle and Easwari Rao, two well-known performers in the business, Santhosh Prathap also plays a significant role in the movie. In their performances, their experience is evident. The BGMs by Sam CS give the entire picture greater force, and the director Dayal Padmanabhan has done a commendable job. Amazing movie music can be found here.

Dayal's tribute to his mother tongue...!!!
PANDIAN1206212 July 2023
Official remake of sandalwood movie "AA KARAALA RATRI" handled by Dayal padmanabhan who also did the original cult hit movie is a sincere tribute to his mother tongue...Despite being a good plot it fails to feel the culture and garner the people's life & habitation which was a strong fort for kannada audience and the screenplay supports to a larger than life in original version... Whereas in tamil the plot stays a major advantage keeping the culture and regional people habitation out of the box which supports the movie to a certain extent ... Despite the good performance by all 4 characters it's only the plot that saves the whole movie making it a one time watchable movie.

Kondraal Paavam is a full package of suspense and thriller. The movie keeps you on edge till the very end with its amazing twists and turns. The end of the movie is completely unpredictable. The whole cast leaves you in awe with their commendable acting, especially Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar. As the female protagonist, her role is eminent and she has done complete justice to it. Santhosh Prathap plays vital role in the film, and let's not forget Charle and Easwari Rao, the two prominent actors of the industry. Their experience shows in their acting. Director Dayal Padmanabhan has done a commendable job and the BGMs of Sam CS adds more impact to the whole films. The songs of the movie are amazing and are here to stay for a long while. The whole cast and crew has done an amazing job and it shows in the movie. A must watch one.

An interesting story with unpredictable climax!
preedhivivek18 March 2023
"Kondral paavam" is a great watch! A story well narrated with an unpredictable climax! Intense performances by lead as well as supporting characters. Awesome BGM scores that augments the emotion being conveyed. Four songs with three going along with the narration makes it worthy. Did not find any unwanted story dragging or commercial element. A tale that happens at a certain time period, expressed and narrated in the most natural way. The objects and costumes in each frame carries the viewer to that period of time aptly.

Cinematography needs a special mention. Especially the intro scene of the lead character is so beautifully captured.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed! Kudos to the entire team!

Lesson
m-ramanan3 July 2023
RATED 8/10 Language: Tamil Source: Amazon prime RECOMMENDED

The best thing about this movie is the story and the moral they spread throughout the movie. Towards the end of the movie, the moral hit hard on our face. Just for this impact, i am recommending this movie.

That "kudukuduppai" wordings are fantastic and the title of the movie justifies.

Superb story and below average scene sequences. Lot of scenes reminds of Serial type. The Movie starts and end very well, in between they made lot of silly mistakes in the making that disturbs the whole viewing.

Adjust your expectations on the making and slow pace of the movie. Then definitely this would be a surprising affair.

Recommended for one time watch.

Boring for the most part and an unrealistic end
kannanjayaprakasam29 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I was about to click the movie off bored by the extremely slow and repetitious dialogs that dragged on and on for 75% or so of the movie. Then towards the end the movie suddenly takes on a more serious tone and piking the interest of the viewer. But the story is entirely unrealistic as far as human psychology is concerned where the killers repent and commit suicide after realizing they had killed their own family member. But this is not believable, seeing how much greedy and cruel all 3 are. It shouldn't have mattered to them that it was their own son/brother, it could have caused some unpleasant feeling but not to the extent they couldn't overcome that guilt, because their inherent greed would have triumphed and they would have just wanted to enjoy the loot.

And there is also the stupidity in the story that they couldn't recognize him and someone else had to tell them who he was.

Well written movie!!!
sriramthestranger17 March 2024
The movie starts with a discourse on desire and lust which sets a central theme for the entire movie. An unknown stranger enters the poverty stricken family of 4. One leads to the other and family decides to kill the stranger.

While as a viewer one is on the hook if the family would kill (or) not kill the stranger, the climax revelation is hard hitting and unexpected. This is brilliantly written but certain portions could have been trimmed.

The music was loud and all songs looked similar. One should watch the movie for the brilliant acting from Varalakshmi Sarathkumar and the unexpected climax part.

The story missed a lot of logic
ngandacinema28 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Kondraal Paavam was missing a lot of logic that we finished the movie being so shocked 😳

DELICIOUS

-The film's captivating score kept the story going. The tonality deepened the suspenseful and mysterious aspect of the narrative making us wonder who exactly was Arjunan the stranger and what Mallika and her family were planning to do.

We could have easily understood the story without dialogues as the instruments elevated/toned down the emotions and carried us along

-The movie opened up with a strong line that set the atmosphere "Desire and lust are like twin horses. Those who bridle and control those twin horses become humans, those who cannot control them become predators".

BLAND

-The movie required some degree of patience as the story took a lonnnng time to start boiling. The scenario was going in circles between Arjunan and the family without aiming to the crux of the matter

-There was a lot of logic missing making the film hard to digest (no spoiler intended):

-Mallika was supposed to be a poor woman living in a remote village but she looked so polished wearing high-quality foundation on her face and having tattoos 😨

-Who designs a vicious plan in the open space where people can easily hear what you're saying?

-How plausible is it that a child can run away for good for just being scolded?

-There was a scene where Mallika and her mother observed something dying and instead of taking action, they just made small gestures as a way to stop it 🤔

-Arjunan's unveiled motivation in the end didn't make too much sense for someone who was carrying heavy emotions for a long time.
