The first movie I've turned off in several years.
I went in to watching this with no real expectations, other than I was curious about a movie with an IMDB rating of 6.5, but NO user reviews. Needless to say, I found out very quickly what I believe is the reason for such an anomaly - fraudulent ratings.

I generally watch every movie I begin, as more often than not it simply takes a while for plot development to rear itself, especially when dealing with low budget/B-movie/independent cinema. Be that as it may, there were some hints I should have paid attention to before investing nearly an hour in this:
  • excessively high rating with no user reviews,
  • incredibly confusing and prolonged opening credits sequence. By this I mean, it's as if the writer/director decided to try something out of the box, and vascilate between credits and parts of the movie, for an extended period of time. It did not work, for me, and added to the confusion of an already muffled opening.
  • lack of focal point through any of the first 55 minutes. I suppose that might be slightly overstating it, but there is zero continuity in this movie. Scenes simply end, characters merely stop talking, and other scenes instantly begin with no set up or back story.
  • extremely poor camera work and video camcorder feel.
  • no special fx, to speak of
  • not a single character played with acting skills. Even the most languid films I've seen have one or two characters played by actors who do a decent job when compared with others in the film, but this one, sadly, was straight across the board, and considering the writing and story were confusing already, this did no favors.
  • terribly broken, disjointed, and confusing. I enjoy and appreciate cerebral films that provide more than meets the eye, but this was nothing or the sort. The disjointed and confusing nature of this is so poorly done that there is no hope for saving it.

Truthfully, this is not a film I found any redeeming value in. I detest reviews that say "worst movie ever made," as I believe there is always an audience for a movie, no matter how small. Sadly, I have no idea what that audience will be for this film.

I enjoy b-flicks, independent cinema, schlock & sleaze fests, but this movie is none of those. It's just bad, and I turned it off when after an hour it had only gotten worse.
