Burgess Meredith is the host for this episode about how Walter Winchell of the Daily Mirror got his biggest story. A notorious racketeer known as The Cat (played by the wonderful Robert Middleton) is in hiding from the FBI and the local police. The cops have orders to bring him in dead or alive so The Cat figures his best chance is to give himself up to the Feds since they only want him for racketeering while the cops want him for murder. The Cat sends one of his henchmen to meet with Winchell and the henchman tells him "My friend wants to meet your friend." Winchell's friend is J. Edgar Hoover, head of the FBI. Winchell later says "I'd be willing to pull a Steve Brody and jump off the Brooklyn Bridge for a story like this." Brody was a famous bridge jumper and evidently the expression "taking a Brody" was common slang in the late 19th and early 20th century meaning "taking a chance" or suicide leap. Winchell does contact Hoover and The Cat turns himself in to the Feds. An entertaining and interesting story. Of particular interest is that the very good actress Constance Ford has a small part as Winchell's secretary, Marge. Her role in this is not listed in the IMDb credits although she is credited in the actual episode's credits.
