Well into series 2, I wonder; Why am I hooked? I'm basically not a fan of long series, nor the subject matter. I think e.g. That season 1 became somewhat circumstantial and lost its momentum along the way. Nevertheless, I continue to watch, and follow with excitement as well.
I have come to the conclusion that it is no longer necessarily the story. It's ok, but not particularly original or innovative. It's the actors and the way they bring these characters to life. Incredibly fascinating.
Let me start with the main cast; Bryan Cranston as Your Honor himself. Now a fallen man struggling to maneuver his life. Brilliant.
Then we have young Benjamin Flores jr. As the tried-and-true teenager Eugene Jones, who is literally fighting to stay alive.
Another of the film's big stars for me is undoubtedly Andrene Ward Hammond as Big Mo. Has a female drug lord ever been portrayed so well? I say no. She is sparkling in the role of the raw, ruthless and calculating Big Mo who has learned to survive in the most brutal conditions. I dig her.
These are just some of the amazing actors who lift Your Honor to heights it would not otherwise have been worth. They are the real jewels of the series and a pure pleasure to follow the characters they bring to life.
