A great episode, and a return to form

Bobby Burg has started this season with two fantastic episodes. There's a reason this show is everyone's "comfort" show, and that's because of its charm. Bobby is back and more charming then ever. Since the movie, everything has been clicking again. The jokes, the story, and especially the characters have grown, Ten-Fold. The haters will always hate but this show will always reign supreme. Bobs Burgers deserves more than the "fans of the old Bob" because it's growing and improving on itself in every episode. Sure not every episode hooks you, but it definitely keeps you watching. I love this episode especially because it feels different then the norm. But to hell with "norms" (except for Norm). Anyways as a viewer of every episode previously, and every episode to come... This is Bob's Burgers, and it will always be the great, heart-felt show you've known and loved.

Season 13 is on a roll

"The Reeky Lake Show" is a another solid episode. Although I think I enjoyed last week's "To Bob, or Not to Bob" a little more, there were still many laughs to be had, and the story thankfully amounted to more than just a series of misfortunes. One of my favorite bits was Gene's reaction to flushing the cabin's toilet. Immature? I suppose, but it made me laugh pretty hard. I especially like how the episode makes it clear how close the Belchers are, even when they aren't on the same page. When they realize they've let each other down, they go to great lengths to make up for it. This was a nice family episode, and I'm very excited for what's in store next week.

Outstanding

7.3 is a ridiculously low score for this episode. It is criminally under rated. The writing team are working at maximum output right now. Belly laughs throughout like The Simpsons in it's prime. Some people say comparing this to the Simpsons is sacrilege but I disagree. This episode is a fresh, new location away from the restaurant. In true kismet style, watching it is like re-living all those terrible weeks alway we've all had. All the funnier due to the relatability. What does relatability remind you of? "Friends", " Seinfeld" and the like. I would include The Office (UK and US versions) too. It is a true hallmark of exceptional TV Comedy Writing. In my book, Bobs Burgers does it as well as anyone that's ever tried.

Review: Bob's Burgers continues its slow decline from an adult-focused show with edgy humor about a family to a show for families and kids with limited laughs and a focus on preaching morals. If you doubt this, re-watch the pilot and compare it to this episode.

I'm not sure there was a single funny line in this latest episode.

The show is not even consistent with its own main characters! In this episode (no spoilers), Linda is basically a maniac dead-set on a vacation regardless of the family's well being. Bob acts totally contrary to his fondness for the outdoors from S4E1 (A River Runs Through Bob). He has also completed his journey to the stereotypical dumb white dad, something he definitely was not in early seasons. The kids are just vehicles for moving the story along. None of them are funny and several of them have become totally unlikable (Linda especially).

The movie was a huge disappointment for me too, not funny. Honestly, if you want to see Bob's Burgers in it's prime, watch the first 4-5 seasons. Or if you want a show for 6 year olds, watch the later seasons.

It's sad to see the massive change from the writing team, but they've clearly been influenced by the current zeitgeist and not charting its own course as it once did.

RIP Bob's Burger's, 2011-2022.
