Least trope-y episode in awhile.
1) Pulled the band-aid on the Mo/Janine thing and actually didn't drag out the kiss awkwardness from the previous episode like a lot of sitcoms would have. Writers actually wrote in some adult-ish communication between Gregory and Janine for once. Thank you.
2) The mural topic was original and fun...until the trope that everyone's least favorite teacher must always be a hypocrite/stick-in-the-mud... just like with the podcast, and Christmas, and every other Jacob-themed episodes. Did I mention EVERYONE'S LEAST FAVORITE TEACHER?! Ugh!
3) For me, the highlight of the episode was the continuation of the charter school battle arc. All the info is accurate and topical. I love it when Abbott isn't afraid to tackle real school subjects like a 70's Norman Lear sitcom. Thank you!
This is one of the best episodes I've seen so far this season.
