Meet the Boyles (2011)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

Catriona MacColl and Paolo Malco take part in this 13-minute featurette that deals with the making of Lucio Fulci's THE HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY. The two start off talking about how they got involved with the project and then they go into great detail about the actual making of the film. It's clear that the two of them had a different experience or at least a different view of the making. Fulci's horrid reputation of being hard to work with didn't seem to bother MacColl as she defends him saying that she never had a problem with the director. She also mentions that he liked working with the children on the film but then Malco talks about how Fulci was constantly complaining about working with them. It's clear that Malco wasn't a fan of Fulci as he tells stories about how sadistic the director was towards actors and these stories seem to go in line with what the majority of the people say. The two of them also go into details about filming in Boston and there's talk about the gore in the film and why it continues to be popular today. Overall fans of the film should really enjoy seeing the two leads all these years after the film was made. They tell some terrific stories but one wishes it had gone on a tad bit longer.
