Pink Flamingos Warning: Spoilers
I disagree with the other reviewer: Personally, I don't think that this short was intended to be something homophobic at all, or to show that the heterosexual lifestyle is the only "normal" lifestyle. Instead of that, it clearly shows how the "normal" birds are prejudiced and unwilling to accept anyone different due their own preconceptions and bias.

In that way, the main character (the only straight flamingo from its community) is at first mocked and then rejected by the "normal" birds. (I found particularly interesting the little twist at the end which shows in a comical manner that not everything is what it seems at first sight and that even the apparent "normality" is merely a facade)

Visually, without being spectacular, this short is pretty well done. The contrast of the cartoonish designs of the birds characters with the two realistic tigers which appear in one of the scenes was a nice touch in my opinion.

Even if it is not the best animated short ever made, I think that "Flamingo Pride" has enough merits to be considered as something worth-watching at least, though I could understand if some viewers could find it to be offensive and biased.

Extremely homophobic

The creators have an excessively negative view of lgbt people that is very hard to ignore. They use cliche stereotypes that in no way allows lgbt to feel the are in any way apart of the joke.

I feel like it's a short film that would be played at conversion therapy camps. It's very negative, and unpleasant. I seriously question the motives of the creators of this short film.

might have seemed funny to someone stupid 30 years ago...

This animations premise is founded on the promotion of a heterosexual lifestyle as being the only 'normal' lifestyle. I was amazed by the unoriginal, blatant and gross stereotypes re-reused for supposed comic effect by this short film.

Obviously the author/director/writer of this just-not-funny animated short has some serious sexual identity issues he or she is attempting to sort through. I just cannot believe, in the second decade of this century, that anyone would put forth such a debasing portrayal of a particular social group.

I can only imagine what stereotypical attributes the author/director/writer would ascribe to a flock of Crows or Black Birds.

This animation is intellectually and socially negligent, yet insidiously shrouded in bright colors and some sort of ham-handed sense of humor. It is just plain repugnant and the author/director/writer should be ashamed.

I wouldn't be surprised upon a second viewing of this German short (which i will never do) to find 'gold stars' and 'pink triangles' on members of the Flamingo flock...and trains readied in the background to take them off to 'summer camp'.

I admitt , it is a provocative animation. For many reasons, from different perspectives. But it is nice for the final message - you can be only yourself. And, off course, for the tigers, just beautiful. In rest - mixed bizarre and eccentric and a good fist of cliches.
