Season Two Review

I liked the first season of "Young Rock". The humour was gentle, but successful and I enjoyed the premise. The second season, whilst mostly the same type of thing takes the story forward and into an area of The Rock's career that I'm familiar with.

With his Presidential campaign reaching the final stages, Randall Park (Randall Park) is still interviewing Dwayne Johnson (Dwayne Johnson) and hearing flashback stories about his younger life. 10-year-old Dwayne (Adrian Groulx) is invested in his father's tag team with Tony Atlas (Antoune Torbert) but Lia's (Ana Tuisila) trial draws closer. 15-year-old Dwayne (Bradley Constant) loves a bit of stability in Nashville. 20-year-old Dwayne (Uli Latukefu) is struggling to make it in the Canadian football league but is nearing a decision that will change his life forever.

What I particularly liked about this season was the movement that the older Dwayne makes into professional wrestling. There are even more wrestlers appearing in this season and I was watching in the early attitude era, so they are all familiar to me. A nice highlight was seeing Colt Cabana playing The Brooklyn Brawler, Steve Lombardi - who walked Dwayne through his first match. Admittedly, that leads the show into an interesting conundrum going forward. Vince McMahon, played in the series by Adam Ray, will become a more prominent character, which is coinciding with the real Vince McMahon's public departure from the WWE and the unsavoury allegations that are surround it.

I'm sure there are probably people who find that the style of humour is too safe for their taste, and again, I can't really argue with that assertion. I enjoyed it though and will certainly watch the third season when it arrives, particularly to see the resolution of the Presidency storyline.
