"Cowboy" Builders
carewser31 October 2012
I too thought "Cowboy" was the wrong word to use in the title of this show so I looked up the word at dictionary.com: "Informal-a reckless or irresponsible person, especially a show-off or one who undertakes a dangerous or sensitive task heedlessly: They put foreign policy in the hands of cowboys." The show is pretty much a public service two ways because the show helps those that have been swindled by these builders by doing the work the dodgy builders should have done themselves but it also benefits the general public by alerting them to unscrupulous builders by confronting them. I found the work part of the show much less interesting than the confrontation part.

Nice, but...

Show is OK, seems to bee genuinely helpful, as they take on builders that rip off people and leave a mess for the customers to fix themselves. Good thing these builders are exposed as the frauds they are. But the title however.. "Cowboy builders"... really? "Cowboy builders"? I've seen no cowboys in the show. Why does the producers think that "cowboy" is an appropriate way to describe a builder that does not do his job, but takes the money anyway? Are they aware that the real cowboys probably were some of the most hardworking and honorable men in history? Pirate builders would be a better title. Anyway, you can watch the beautiful Melinda Messenger on the show, walking around, being cute as she always is.

A female host uses sex appeal and eye lash fluttering
EmDee-427-46934420 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
The female host (Messenger) flutters her eyelashes, giggles like a 13yr old girl at everything said, pouts, talks like a sex kitten and uses sex appeal to get men to give her everything from building materials to furniture for free. Essentially telling other women it's OK to be a user and fake bimbo to get what you want. I'd say that is on par with being a cowboy builder, considering the TV station is selling advertising space and making money from this show while appearing to not pay anything to help build or decorate these properties.

They put on a show of conning men by using an alleged sex symbol with "Messenger charm" (afore mentioned self degradation intended to get free products). They make men look like shallow fools too and the bit where she degrades herself is the most cringe-worthy.

Hate it!
bigamo_200220 June 2013
There are a few reasons why i hate this show! Firstly Dominic Littlewood. A horrible little hypocrite of a man. Made his fame by presenting a TV show warning people how to safeguard their homes from robbers. How does he know how to advise people? Because he used to be a robber. How does he think its fine to try intimidate these 'cowboys' in the street when he used to be a criminal! Secondly, although i believe most of the builders on this show will deserve to be targeted by this show, i do feel there are builders who will have done a bad job somewhere and regretted it(everyone makes mistakes at their work right)I imagine this show has probably ruined the lives of a couple of people who aren't actually all that bad. Formal customers will hear the builder is being investigated by the show and jump on the bandwagon for their minute of fame.

Thirdly, it makes all builders in Britain seem terrible. There are some amazing tradesmen in this nation, but we now think they are all cowboys. It gives tradesmen a horrible name.

Melinda Messenger is a winner though!
