While Braceface is a cartoon that was aimed at kids when it aired on ABC Family back in the early 2000's, some of the episodes were not really kid-friendly, since this was a Canadian cartoon that dealt with serious issues teenagers may face in real life. In this one, Shanon goes to Miami with her brother Adam and best friend Maria. However, during the visit, she is sad that dad and her band has a place for her brothers (including her younger brother Josh, who could not come due to getting the flu), and soon, it escalates when one of the roadies invite her to a party, and it results in her getting drunk on rum and cola.
Like I said, this show has episodes that deals with real issues teenagers will face, and this one involves Shanon engaging in underage drinking due to wanting to belong. However, after her braces spark and cause her dad to hear this, he has to teach her a lesson: she does not need to drink to fit in. People like her better when she is herself.
