This is probably one of the weakest episodes I've seen. I certainly like the idea of the absence of filler, but this seemed pretty pointless. It's especially weird with the two scenes of Goku stopping Gohan from protecting Piccolo. I guess it's relevant in that we get to see Cell meet the Androids. Of course, they won't be interacting for long. It is still watchable, because it's nice to see the characters all play off of each other. It's also nice to see Android 17 being less cocky in this idea. I actually really do like when they show some of Cell's victims and mentions how they made him powerful. It really does show off how this character works.
Cell actually had the fewest kills of the three main villains, so he was arguably the least evil of them. Still, you don't want to see him succeed. Piccolo and Android 17 don't really form an alliance, Cell just gets Piccolo out of the way. It's great to have ChiChi come up with the idea of them meeting up in the middle. I wouldn't have thought of that! It's ironic when they consider Piccolo and Android 17 would both eventually die four times. ***
