Simon has been on a life changing and life affirming course, his aim is to heal the entire family in one foul swoop, to do this he needs to invite his father Richard over, the rest of the family are not impressed.
This was possibly the most accomplished episode to date, very well written, funny, and awkwardness turned up to the max. Everyone is on edge and made to feel uncomfortable by Simon's well intentioned, but disastrous idea.
They really are the most dysfunctional family, talk about angst, it's a wonder that any of them can spend more than ten minutes wish eachother.
Liz brings in plenty of laughs here, even in that atrocious tracksuit, the way she thinks he keeps on looking at her, very funny. Samantha Spiro is just a joy to watch, she's hilarious.
Great to see Allan Corduner, he does comedy very well, I wasn't expecting to see Simon's father, an interesting guy.
