Probably polarizing

I think this film will probably divide people into those who love it and those who don't. I'm in the latter group, but I expect there will be many in the former.

I think almost all aspects of the film are superb, particularly the acting and cinematography. The only objective kind of problem I had was with Beau's audio which seemed muted in places, making it difficult to hear what was said, though it didn't seem like that was intended. If you take the individual scenes, you care about the characters, and you feel their emotion.

But the subjective problem I have is that the pieces of the story don't make sense to me. I don't really understand how the quote at the beginning relates to the story. I don't understand what the collision between past and future selves means, literally or metaphorically. Then the final shot seems to suggest an afterlife. Is that the other side the title refers to? If so, why do we care about the dead future couple more than the living past couple?

It reminds me somewhat of Portal: No Escape, which I also rated 6. What appears on the screen and comes through the speakers for both short films is great, but the stories don't do what they need to do.
