Great episode about the bond between a mother and daughter
ldamena2 February 2022
Kate & Rebecca have always had a troublesome relationship but episodes like this one also show how strong their connection is. Kate can be awful but at least she always realizes it and apologizes to Rebecca which makes their bond even stronger. Deja went overboard Randall is right she's barely 17 too young to make this kind of decisions. BUT thank goodness for Beth, she talked some sense into Randall before he ruined their relationship with Deja. Kudos to the writers for showing both sides of the coin. I have a theory on who Kevin's wife is in the future but i could be way off since his love life is such a mess. Hopefully that is cleared up soon.

The Ladies Are Back
montgomerysue11 February 2022
Cast member Chris Sullivan directs this episode and he does an excellent job of showcasing the talents of the women in this series. The main focus is on the relationship between Kate and Rebecca during their 40 years together and Mandy Moore is given the opportunity to display just how wonderful she is at portraying Rebecca in the various stages of her life. It's a complicated and heartfelt performance that is quite memorable. Giving her terrific support is Chrissy Metz as Kate and Hanna Zeila as teen Kate, both of whom are finally given some interesting scenes this season and they excel at them. In a subplot, Deja announces her plans to her family, which gives Susan Kelechi Watson as Beth the opportunity to really shine in scenes that alternate between very funny and serious. She is the mother with a common sense that Randall hardly ever defers to, and Watson plays it so well, despite the irritating overacting of Sterling K. Brown. But, if there's one character who knows how to handle Randall, it's Deja, and Lyric Ross is just terrific in playing her in this episode. It's fascinating to watch Deja yank his chain just enough to get him off his high horse. If you like the ladies of This Is Us, this episode demonstrates just how talented these actresses are. Interesting and very well done.

STOP calling Kate, Bug.
barnsleylad49493 February 2022
The bond between Kate and Rebecca is annoying af. Whoever came up with the idea of calling her Bug should be fired. It's the most annoying and insulting nickname on the planet.

Randall is his usual annoying self.

Other than that, not a bad episode.

Tissues at the Ready

As this show enters it's final chapter, I know I am going to miss its excellence. I also think back on the series and as much as I try to fight it, I think I have cried at some point during EACH episode. Every last one. I am still blown away at how Mandy Moore flawlessly plays Rebecca at all ages. You, old middle and she shines brightly in this particular episode. I can't wait to see how it ends up in the Spring. Well, actually I can. I know I will have tissues at the ready though and, for that, I am grateful to see art that is so relatable and real.
