Now that is what you call acting.

Cormoran and Robin are approached by a man who's daughter also vanished back in the 1970's, he pleads with the pair to investigate.

It felt like the story was paused for the early part of this episode, in favour of some personal play. Robin's family meal, and Strike's family problems. It was a bit of a gamble, and could have been seen as a filler episode, but it worked to perfection.

That scene where Cormoran and Robin interview the haunted Dad was superb, heart breaking and moving, I really did see the closeness of the two main characters, there's a definite chemistry, and what's been apparent, is the growth of Robin's character.

Linda Bassett, what an actress, what an absolutely awesome actress she is, those scenes in the bedroom were heart breaking.

This was excellent, 9/10.

Acting perfection

This episode was brilliant, it had the utter sadness, the outbursts based on stress and the explanation of general behaviour. The prison scene was superb, as was the journey to see his mother. JK is such a good writer, I'm willing to watch anything she writes because I know it will be perfect.

I've been on the edge of my seat, I always half expect something horrendous but I know the little chats in between will be brilliant and light.

Also, the chemistry between the main characters works so well, they are both brilliant actors. I also like the addition of the receptionist.

Well done JK...another cracking series! I look forward to the next!

Troubled Blood: Part 3

A boring dull episode. I guess the source novel must have been a slog to read. I sometimes wonder J K Rowling needs a ruthless editor for some of her later novels in a series. Unfortunately she is too famous these days.

The only notable bit in this episode was Kenneth Cranham shining as serial killer Dennis Creed. It was Cranham's opportunity to do a Hannibal Lecktor.

That is the correct spelling, it is the Brian Cox version in Manhunter and Cranham relished it. Creed plays mind games with Strike and the latter is having none of it.

There are some clues given by Creed that are followed by Strike and Robin. It all was very glib and felt tacked on. Like even the director knew that the episode was a filler.
