"The cops move too slow if at all."
bosporan27 May 2022
An excellent finale, all the strands coming to a satisfying and reasonable conclusion with plenty of action to bring down the curtain. The final scene, though somewhat predictable, provides a strong entry point to season two.

As a first season to a new, albeit rejuvenated, show, this has been superb. It has its flaws, but in general the story has been complex, compelling and credible, generating page-turners with each episode. The interaction between the main characters works well and Madison Lintz has developed well into her new expanded role.

Bring on season two!

Spin Off/Continuation Series Still Delivers!
spasek25 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
There aren't many instances where a spin-off show matches the original. However, "Bosch: Legacy" is more of a combination of a continuation of events from "Bosch" as well as being a spin-off. This show's focus is on Bosch, Honey Chandler, and Maddie. And frankly, this show is easily as good as its predecessor. Having read the books, I had some idea of the direction that Harry Bosch's career would go.

Bosch is now a private investigator. While he may no longer have the badge, he's still got the experience, the connections, and even some high-tech help from "Mo" Bassi as Bosch is still somewhat technologically inept, which is always a source of fun and humor. Bosch may be older, but he also proves that he's more than efficient in his detective savvy as well as still having the combat chops. In short, Bosch is still a guy you don't want to cross.

Honey Chandler is still reeling from the effects of being shot from the last season of "Bosch." However, it doesn't take her long to bring her lawyer chops back up to speed. As efficient as Bosch is at being a detective, the same can be said of Chandler in the courtroom. And, of course, the relationship between Bosch and Chandler is always a bit problematic, but they do respect each other and their capabilities. In short, from a professional standpoint, it's a perfect "marriage" between detective and lawyer.

Finally, we have Maddie who is a "boot" patrol officer with LAPD. Perhaps for the first time, we get a real sense of what it means to be a probationary, rookie police officer. I'm tired of shows that show rookies magically acquiring a set of skills to an expert level. We don't get that here. Maddie proves that she's got a lot to learn before she can be considered a seasoned officer with her superior constantly correcting and even badgering her for mistakes. While her partner seems like a tough mentor, she's supposed to be, because it's her job to help Maddie learn as well as survive.

Once again, we have several cases that are being worked this season. First, we have a doctor who's been brutally stabbed to death on the street, and Bosch having to deal with a careless and overzealous detective when he begins to look into the case. How Bosch treats this idiot is priceless and in typical Bosch fashion! Second, we have Bosch being summoned by a billionaire (in true "Big Sleep" fashion!) to see if he has any heirs to his fortune. And finally, we have Chandler trying to find a way to go after Carl Rogers for hers and Maddie's attempted murder from "Bosch." And we also have some street issues coming up for Maddie as a rookie officer--one of which gives us a doozy of a cliffhanger! It kind of made me wish that I'd waited to start this series as I've still got about 8-9 months to wait before Season 2! Damn!

It's still gripping police/detective procedural storytelling. What's the most compelling is seeing how Harry transitions from being a police detective to being a private investigator. Since he no longer has a badge, there are things he's unable to do, but there are also plenty of things that he's now able to do as well. And, man, I still love to see how smart Bosch is in figuring things out. He's still a master at reading people as well as sifting through evidence and finding details that--for others--would be overlooked or even discarded.

We also get a few appearances from Crate and Barrel--funny as ever--, Jerry Edgar (briefly) and a few others. All in all, a great start to another epic series that, frankly--and probably due to COVID--is taking too damn long in between seasons!

My only issue is with the new theme song, which is God-awful! Where's the jazz theme that coincides with Harry Bosch so perfectly? If they weren't going to go with the original theme, then they should have at least gone with another jazz tune.

Great in theory.
lisaox3337 June 2022
I was thrilled to see a new season of Bosch and interested in the legacy concept with Maddie. It was a bit of a let down as it seemed to be shallow in places like they had time constraints with filming and only 10 episodes but then we had some totally unnecessary scenes that added nothing. Looking at the reviews I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who hadn't realised episode 10 was the finale. It certainly didn't feel like the storyline got wrapped up. It's a shame as it could have been a 10/10 show.

I have been reading Bosch books since they were in paperback
doctornovirus30 September 2022
The best Harry book written was Nine Dragons. LAPD Detective Harry Bosch finds himself in Hong Kong facing the highest-stakes case of his life: bringing his kidnapped daughter home. He uncovers a link to a Hong Kong triad, a lethal and far-reaching crime ring that follows many immigrants to their new lives in the U. S. And instantly his world explodes. The one good thing in Bosch's life, the person he holds most dear, is taken from him and Bosch travels to Hong Kong in an all-or-nothing bid to regain what he's lost.

I am a long time fan, actually met Michael Connelly at a book signing at Poison Pen Scottsdale. Time to make it into a series.

Enjoyed the season despite the flaws.

Warning: Spoilers
Enjoyed the season despite the flaws.

First off, Maddie has been kidnapped, again! Come on, surely she'd realise the further away from Daddy Bosch she is, the safer she'll be.

Her mother got done in a drive by, her grandmother was murdered, step father disappeared by the Chinese. How much more can she take?

I don't see Maddie as a credible beat cop, weakest story of the season for me. Her motivation doesn't make sense and she isn't convincing in the uniform.

The main Bosch plot lines are ok, even if the billionaire without an aire in trite. Plus his estate should go to the state, not the Corp. They should have covered that better.

Good to see Bosch take out another assassin. I do feel he should have double tapped her in the head as well. Going after an innocent mother and her 14 year old, utterly despicable!

The doctor murder was interesting and Honey's plot lines entertaining at least.

I'd like to see Bosch get more ruthless in season 2 and Maddie to find a different job again.

Still to Come
Hitchcoc29 May 2022
Most of the storylines were brought to a sort of conclusion. The wrap-ups are still wanting and there is a hook at the end. Bosch really goes over the top this time, using his war tactics to do in a seriously bad actor. The conclusion was so easy to predict. Very cliched.

Better than Bosch final season, but not great Warning: Spoilers
This season has been enjoyable, but with some flaws.

Maddie needs more action or less screen time; in any case fewer contemplative close-ups would be appreciated. I like Maddie as a cop. Just wish it was handled with interesting plot rather than very, very, very tired clichés about the female investigator being threatened by the scheming serial criminal.

The flimsy earthquake pretext for not being able to rent the Bosch house for use this season, while understandable, is too clunky. They would have been better off with Bosch starting the show living somewhere else, having sold the glass house in between shows.

Another tired cliché is the super-assassin. This time, it's a woman who would be more at home in Cirque de Soleil. In any case, the way she was fooled by the empty revolver trick is completely unbelievable. She had researched Bosch; she knew who he was and what he could do. She wouldn't have believed for a moment that Bosch would bring one revolver and six rounds to a trap he himself had set for her.

I agree with other reviewers that this was not a solid season wrap-up. I finished thinking there must be at least one more episode coming.

Legacy ruined
dierregi10 March 2023
Most reviews here are mixed but the ratings are high, which I don't understand. For me, this series ruined completely the Bosch character who had a gritty realism and integrity as a reluctant cop but now is just a weird private dick working for dying billionaires the way Philip Marlowe did. Don't get me wrong, I love Marlowe, but Bosch just ain't him and his LA is not the LA of the 40s, with dames and gangsters.

Besides, Bosch without the cool house on the hills loses even more points. Not only that, but even Money Chandler doesn't work in her slick office anymore, but in what looks like the back office of a dingy pop and mum firm. Don't even get me started with "boot" Maddie... and what happened to her cool, neonatal surgeon, politically correct Latino boyfriend? At least he was easy on the eye.

The plot of this series is a jumble sale of cliches, tied together by evil white males (is there any other type?) and good every other ethnicity. Turns out, the only decent white male in LA is Bosch. A quick count sees the following underdeveloped plots: Dr. Basu (probably killed by a white male colleague); the Russian mafia guys convenient killing Chandler's nemesis; a white rapist; a dying billionaire with a Latino grand-daughter and evil corporate white men conspiring to get her killed; police corruption in pursuing a non-white criminal and girlfriend and covering up a possible mess. To be noted, the "innocent girlfriend" only wanted to protect her fatherless son and to be a social worker - not a Youtuber or an actress, because that would not elicit enough sympathy, but a social worker...

Come to think of it, also the Latino heiress is a single mother... I guess the scriptwriters love single parents and again, Bosch is the only father figure around. Everybody else is fatherless or has a bad father.

A final note on the female assassin who looked like Maddie, like there weren't any other actresses around to play the part but a stick-thin redhead with a long ponytail and bony face.

I am so not interested in the next season despite this ridiculous ending. For me Bosch was over with the 7th series, this is just prolonging the agony.

Maddie is out of character
ozmashketa9 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Okeish episode.

Maddie Bosch is behaving out of character considering a serial rapist lurking around women who live alone themselves.

Earlier episodes established that she is a security-conscious person however later Mads leaves her service firearm near the window protected by a bug screen and goes to shower.

Everything up in the air, as if they don't trust their fans to come back for another season
adamdcohen-6039230 May 2022
I enjoyed the first season of Bosch Legacy, which felt like a continuation of Bosch. What it does differently is, instead of some sense of satisfying season conclusion, most of the storylines are still unresolved. I had to double check the number of episodes, since it in no way felt like a season finale. I'm imagining they were insecure about fans returning, so they scratched a satisfying season conclusion.

Love the show but
a-6578228 May 2022
Loved the show but every story line except the Dr. Basu one was left unresolved. Why only 10 episodes if they weren't enough? Now the viewers have to wait a year or more for the conclusion of these storylines.

Somewhat Over the Top
meckstut31 May 2022
A good not great continuation of the series. Madison Linz is even worse than in the previous seasons. That storyline is awful and she gets too much screen time. Bosch seems to think the rules don't apply to him. Lost some of its gritty appeal.

Twin sisters from another mister
karencookstoo4 November 2022
I found it very strange they would cast what appears to be the twin sister of Maddie as the assassin. Some angular face, age, body type, hair, height, weight. I kept waiting for the tie in to this - like have Maddie mistaken for her and almost killed - or something. Anything. But nope. Just a doppelgänger. I also found the million different story lines weaving in and out of the series to be overkill. The murdered doctor. The billionaire's search for an heir. The rapist. The dirty cops. The Russian mobsters. Honey's shrink sessions. Bosch's sad early life and then Bosch in Afghanistan. It was way too many plot lines.
