Nicola

Another episode that is very much a two hander.

Danny goes to the flat where his daughter Christina died and he meets Nicola.

She was Christina's wife as they had married a year earlier. Danny was not invited and knew nothing about Nicola.

It turns out that Danny had found his daughter in bed with another woman when she was 15 years old. He threw her out of the house.

The episode tells you more about Danny and also about Christina's complicated life.

As for the central mystery, it does not add much regarding if Christina was murdered or not.

A much better episode with James Nesbitt starting to get into character or maybe just Niamh Algar bringing the best out of him Northern Ireland v The South, Capricorn v Cancer; the energy brings quality to the episode and makes it as good as the original.

Very slow moving.

Danny visits the place where Christina's body was found, there he meets Nicola.

This was average at best, I'm finding it really hard to warm to any of the characters, Danny and Nicola were both very easy to dislike.

Considering a run time of 25 minutes, this felt very slow. I'm mildly interested in what happened to Christina, at this early stage, I would expect to be gripped at this stage.

Was it perhaps filmed at a time where Covid regulations were really strict, so far we've seen a minimal cast, and everyone seems to be keeping their distance.

5/10.
