Overall not a bad episode but
entej5 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I can't believe that they made new African girl character steal old lady's wallet. This is a very bad portrait of her and unacceptable. Considering how annoying Z always is I'm also surprised she didn't even say anything.

Stealing in the plot???

Emmmm... To be honest, I felt good about some of the plots in the previous episodes. However, in this episode, that black girl publicly steals an old woman's purse??? I AM SHOCKED!!! What on earth makes the director think that it is okay to show this to people? What kind of values of life does the show intend to convey to people? SHOCKED!!!

This show is pretty bad

First of all, Max looks like he is 32 years old and supposed to be 17. This is distracting in the whole series. In this episode in particular we are supposed to believe that Kathryn Gallagher as Heidi Bergmann is this stunning woman who men fantasize about and the casting is head scratching as the actress is not attractive or interesting at all. The storyline with Aki and Audrey (and her newly capped teeth which are horrifying, why do people do that) has run its course but the writers keep circling it. The only good part of this entire episode is the amazing and way too talented for this series actress Grace Duah who can do so much better than this show.

Recycled, Old Plot
btsislitty16 June 2022
The whole "main character taken back to the suburbs because NYC is big and scary and too much" plotline is quite literally a recycled plot from the original Gossip Girl. If you recall, in the original show, Jenny (Dan's younger sister) leaves the city to go and live with her mother upstate for the same exact reasons as Julien here; it becomes too much for her. This is copy paste the same storyline. The whole point of a "reboot" is to explore new, fascinating plots and characters in a way that differentiates itself from the original series, something this reboot has been sorely lacking in.
