Honestly, this show isn't horrible, but also not great. The first couple episodes were difficult to get into, but you kind of get sucked in. A few of the people were nauseating to listen to. The whole show is very pointless, but mildly entertaining.

Such an amazingly trashy show. Was constantly cringing and yelling at the TV but I couldn't stop watching this train wreck.

In N&A, we see the contestants struggle through starvation. They lose weight. They get dehydrated. They get dizzy when they stand up too fast. They snipe at each other as they struggle.
On this show, there were a couple outdoorsy folks. A couple. They had benefits: an easy read map of the area and directions on how to build a raft. They could bring personal items. One guy brought his guitar and bow and arrows.
What I don't understand is the part where none lost weight or complained about physical hardships other than the soles of one girls' foot and a guy who made a passing reference to bugs at night. It's as though they are happy kids who could be in any setting. They were all chill and polite and seemingly immune to any survivor hardships.
Is this *just* because the producers chose a newbie friendly bountiful spot with a well and lots of fruit? And *just* because they didn't have bad weather? And *just* because they didn't have to navigate building a shelter with somebody (because they were provided) or just because the group was large enough that they didn't have to be either firekeeper or food-getter every day?
Because I cannot understand how the survival aspect wasn't even touched on here.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE trashy shows. Not mainstream Bachelor BS, I'm talking Dating Naked, Netflix trash, TLC trash, etc. Dating Naked was dripping with delicious trashiness and all the other clones of it were hilarious too. I love NAA because of the drama and struggle. But you cannot combine them in any good way.
This has no survival aspect to it at all. They literally smear their food on each other when they go on a date for fun. Everything is built for them and they are in the middle of all the resources. They are one step below camping. Only one contestant was actually on the original show, and everyone gets a survival picture book.
But since they are ACTING like it is a survival show, it's hard to see it as a dating show. In the first season of NAA, one or two people talked about maybe finding a love connection. After that season, everyone realized that no one wants to date after three weeks without a shower and it was never really mentioned again. We've already known this wouldn't work.
So what do we do? Force it all together and have a show that is crappy at being both a survival show and dating show.

Who drafts this show and thinks it's a good idea? Discovery has become a complete joke. Great to know that my subscription money is going towards complete trash like this. I just unsubscribed to Discovery+ entirely because of this show. This is only the beginning of the decline and I'm not going to wait around and see what other garbage they waste time and money on. My funds will not be apart of whatever else comes along.

I tried to give it a chance and watch second episode, but couldn't finish. While watching this you can actually feel how your brain cells are dying. It's impossible to take this show serious.
Also watching this makes you think regular Naked and Afraid is bad and it's not.

What did the majority of the reviewers expect? A serious match making show with an elaborate survival aspect to it?? Come on...it's a bunch of naked people on a beautiful island who want to find f-buddies. What's so wrong with that?! Of course your brain cells might feel like they're dying, but mine are dying thinking how you could've expected anything else from a show that has this format?
My only critique would be the lack of inclusivity - why is everyone so ripped with a 9-pack? And the only girl who's perfectly fine and gorgeous gets called "not my type because i'm usually more into fitness chicks"... come on... so shallow!

I have been watching N & A for a long, long time. This Of Love trash is a waste of my time. You have ruined the show for me. If I want to watch something so ridiculous, I'll watch The Bachelor. I'm not alone in my thinking. N & A is something fun we loved to relive and talk about with friends and family. This show will end that. What a shame that sex has to be a spectator sport for your show. Disgusting.

I'd had read previous reviews before starting the show. I agree that one shouldn't expect a heavy dose of survival techniques. What I do like about it is that it shows more clearly the psycho-social aspects of how groups of young, single, naked people interact.

I can't believe Discovery would choose to air something like this. It belongs on VH1 or TLC. The "survival" aspect is extremely watered-down and there is NO INDICATION that the participants are ever going to face any of the real hardships that the participants of the original show do. Yes, the place does lack the modern amenities of a luxury hotel, but their shelters are already built, finding food and water is very easy in whatever location they are in (which is never revealed, but it looks much less severe than the typical tropical environments of the original show), and every 2 person team has not only the fire starter, pot, and cutting tool, but also at least 2 other items PLUS a "personal item" that is non-essential to survival. It's much more on par with the show "Survivor", except instead of a money prize, the prize is a love connection...if the participants are lucky enough to find it. Add to that a VERY annoying-sounding female narrator and you got this show.
If you're a fan of dating show drama with a bit of naked aspect thrown in (with the parts still blurred out of course), then maybe you can enjoy this mindless drivel halfway. Otherwise, skip it and stick to the original show.

Why does Discovery channel even have a show like this. I watch Naked and Afraid but refuse to watch this bs. Considering to stop watching Naked and Afraid because of the advertising for this show shoved in my face. Discovery channel isn't as good as it used to be.

I've been a huge fan of all the N&A shows so far, and this could have worked if they had taken the higher road and had people really working together in survival situations, and the real life drama of people coping with hardship and sometimes thriving together.
Instead they took the low road, the same as every other base dating reality show, replete with trashy dating show music and quick shot editing, and casting a bunch of walking tent poles and social media booty shakers.
All that's missing is a fawning failed actor/comedian to host.
I get it, if it had worked it could have been a huge money grab, but from the first episode it's clear mistakes have been made, huge mistakes. I just hope this doesn't portend a downward spiral for the rest of the, so far excellent, N&A series.

I am sorely disappointed in the direction they decided to go. Highly inappropriate for Discovery. Way to take a survival show and make it trashy.
This sounds like the dumbest thing ever..I watch to see the survivors get challenged and grow with their skill sets..this sounds like some dumb show where they're not going to be focusing on that and more on each other, so the survival part doesn't matter They even have the shelter half built for them already. It's dumb.

It's actually a lot of entertaining fun, my wife and I watch each week. Just don't expect your regular naked and afraid. There is very little focus on any survival at all. In fact, I don't think there is any survival happening. LOL.

People that watch naked and afraid are mostly into survival, testing ones self, and nature... we are the complete opposite of what you project. The problem is you people ruin a already successful work and over think it. Too many cooks spoil the broth. Naked and afraid of love is for college dropouts, and morally bankrupt losers. Why does everything have to have a DarkSide with you trash minded people. You guys really don't understand your audience.
