Thanks for the lectures

Shoe-horning some modern educational programs into the story for us aside we got some action, although it was delivered with the same muted tone that the last few episodes were tainted with.

Where it should be edge of the seat fare it again didn't reach the lofty heights of previous series. The stuff in the fort should have been tense but it wasn't really.

There should have been a deep insight from the amputee Walter Woodcock's story yet it never hit home and we're left wondering why he was included if this is the payoff.

There are interesting elements here, I like where we're going with William Ransom being set against people who are not his enemy and the battle lines being vague,

And finally some action in the scottish setting,

Well paced and rythmed. A good Outlander episode!
elliottremblay24 July 2023
For my part, I really enjoyed the episode and I found it well paced, both by the different protagonists, and by the editing and sequence of scenes.

Also, the dialogue scene between Jamie and Claire in the tent near the end of the episode was truly exquisite and touching. It's always nice to see their two minds and thoughts come together as they so often do. 2 spirits separated by 2 centuries, here is a very beautiful representation of their respective lives. I loved all of Roger's scenes with Scottish culture and the mystery man at the end! Since I read the book, I'm so glad we got to this story!

All in all, the sets, filming locations and costumes, complemented by a great soundtrack as with all episodes, it really is always nice to just watch Outlander and think we've come this far in this great story.

The show and the people aren't what they used to be, including over 30 (fictional) years since the show began, Outlander remains captivating and interesting, and my love and curiosity for these characters will never cease, I'll listen to it till the end.

I really don't understand why multiple people pop up on IMBd to give the episode a 1/10 rating without adding anything. It's such a shame that the ranking of some episodes can be distorted by these arbitrary rankings.

Outlander is a guilty pleasure!

Surprisingly I'm enjoying the 80s and the Mac's. That Rob Cameron is no good and the ending made me gasp out loud!!

I'm enjoying this season of Outlander. I was sad to see the Ridge go but look forward the future. So much yet to come and returning characters make it exciting.

I continue to love Outlander and the characters. Not every episode can keep you on the edge of your seat. Storylines need to be set up in order to play them out. It is also a story not real life as the negative reviewers seem to forget.

Also on a silly note I am happy Brianna now has bangs. I found her large dark eyebrows very distracting.

An old friend has returned
alaneab23 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I have scored every episode this season with a 10. And each deservedly so!

It is time to say thank you to the writers cast and everyone involved in this wonderful show. It feels like I am following along with the great Diana Gabaldon's books, and that is a good thing. The show stands on its own, of course, but there is so much content in the episodes we have had so far this season it feels like seasons before. All of the new characters are wonderful and the actors are portraying them beautifully. This season I am excited to see what's coming up and each new episode and I can't wait to see some old friends like Ian and Jenny in Scotland.

Why must the storylines repeat....
abradbury-542932 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
How many times will they repeat the storyline of Claire getting kidnapped? How does she still put herself constantly in a situation guaranteed to end with her being kidnapped? Like HOW?

Along with the other B and C storylines that never go anywhere.... I always start to lose interest in the "story" when they literally turn the plot into what happens after Claire gets kidnapped. I understand that is how it was for women back in this time period....but since this story already has some type of magic attached to main plot of the story....could we axe that from happening every six episodes or less?

Episode 706
bobcobb30121 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of those precisely Outlander kind of episodes. Not a lot of drama or huge developments, but the likable cast and the strong dialogue is enough to hold you over.

I think they're making the whole subject of the Revolutionary War just a little bit too relaxed. This should be tense and hostile as we are preparing for one of the biggest things in the world and yet for some reason they are casually discussing deals with the "rebels" and negotiating terms. I am not old enough to have been around during that time, I have not met anyone who has, but it does not feel like this happened in real life.

The most boring couple in the world
NanoFrog16 August 2023
The entire storyline of the daugher and her husband, the scottish minister and teacher, is unwatchable. I mhave muted every scene. They are the two most boring actors playing the most boring couple in the world. The effect is almost numbing. Their story arc is boring, their personalities don't exist, and what any of it has to do with the main story line is a mystery...as seven seven has these 2 dull people reuring to 1980s UK. There is overall, suddenlly, as well, a lot more praying, a forced imposition of some evngelical bent to the writing that was absent before, and now is in many scenes. The entiure story arc sems to be falling part as the writing gets bogged down and lost in trivia and homey scenes. The entire idea of the 2 time dimensions is handled by another useless actor, the so-called child of these 2 boring people who is also not at all interesting in any way. This season, so far, the entire magical premise and the actual and real story that could be todl has fallen apart. Snoooooze.
