Struggling with living , life and death situations.
mrmarckline18 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
From the beginning till the end of the episode , was looking down to actually reality , in what we do average Americans everyday in life. Mother and daughter facing reality , Marsha Warfield(Night Court ) and Aisha Hinds seemed they were playing real life people , in which that happens everyday across the country , good performances . Maddie is cracking up , Bobby seems to be real , helping out one person and his marriage is breaking up due to wife , not expressing what she really wants , yet she she cares about is being a good cop. The breaking part of this episode has to be the demise of Eddie getting shot in front of Buck , true friends , Eddie getting shot by a sniper and seems to be gone , the finale is next week , looks like some of the cast needs therapy and counselling and bring lots of tissues.

What a cliffhanger....

Seeing Eddie getting shot and the way Buck and Eddie looked at each other the final moments of this episode actually stole my breath. He better be okay.

It was nice having Carla back and the Bridezilla was hilarious.

Oh oh what's going on with Maddie, Bobby and Athena?

It was also nice to come back to Hen's medical school.

Now i cannot wait for the finale and how everything is going to turn out.

Well Done

Warning: Spoilers
Personally, I feel that Season 4 has been underwhelming compared to previous seasons. Much of which I feel is because of some of the new writers for the season. They haven't been writing to a good standard as a top-rated show like 9-1-1 deserves. Maybe it's also because COVID was introduced, or just a combination of things.

But after several plain filler episodes, this episode, along with the finale, really brought a lot of great things and really made me regain the hype for the show I used to have.

We have a really interesting story of a mother purposely making her son sick to receive many donations through several Go Fund Me pages, which I feel was very unique. We get drama between Bobby and Athena, finally addressing Athena's consistent independence and her leaving Bobby out of the discussion, which really needed to be addressed.

One storyline I always wished was shown more was Hen in medical school, and I was glad to see some of that as her med school classmates were banded together to figure out Hen's mothers' unknown illness. And Hen's scene calling out the ignorant doctor in the ER who didn't listen to the patients needs was amazing, a testament to how BIPOC in this world aren't treated well and extensively enough when it comes to health care.

I didn't expect for the writers to go towards a postpartum depression storyline for Maddie, but even so, I think it's been done really well. Not just the writing and direction, but Jennifer Love Hewitts' display of Maddie's emotions, especially here, have been depicted so nicely. Definitely made me shed tears for Maddie.

And of course, we can't forget the breathtaking scene at the end of the episode of Eddie getting shot. Unexpected, but the direction and acting was really excellent. The blood splatter of his soulmate Eddie all over his face, the life leaving Eddie through his eyes, Buck being in complete shock the whole time, never blinking until Eddie finally closes his eyes. Them never breaking eye contact and Eddie reaching his hand towards Buck was incredible.

Overall, the episode was really great and I'm glad it was done the way it was due to some other episodes in the season being really dull and poorly written (@Bob Goodman for writing a really poor mid season finale). I hope we keep getting great episodes next season as well.

Felt entertained with this episode

Warning: Spoilers
I always wondered what had happened to Hen's becoming a doctor storyline. And just when i thought they have forgotten about it, they brought it back. Then the moment Eddie got shot, well we knew that this was going to happen, but it really did hit soooo hard. These last two minutes were so well acted and directed. I'm still thinking about this scene. Now all we need is for Eddie to be okay (but i am hopeful).

Great but...
mcampuzano8818 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
... Aren't we all tired of seeing Jennifer Love Hewitt in drama roles? Does she ever stop crying? I get her character, the domestic abuse and all but post-partum depression?! C'mon!

The drama is always focused on the same two characters: Bucky's worst thing was learning that he had a brother - big whoop

Maddy is beat up, taken hostage, raped, beat to a pulp. Kidnapped, evicted and disowned by her family... and how hated by her daughter apparently.

I actually hope that JLH's last episode is the next one, grown sick & tired of her performance, her character and all.

The opening was.....

Warning: Spoilers
The beginning sequence with the bride was hilarious. The closing segment was crushing.

And let's be real, Bobby doesn't deserve Athena. He's a whiny baby, and she lives in reality.

And can't believe that they'd kill off Eddie after killing a parent also on Lonestar.

Poor old Maddie

Warning: Spoilers
Seriously, can Maddie not be happy for 5 seconds? Seriously I am tired of her always looking miserable. Otherwise I love the show, thiugh this episode was obviously going to be a "Munchausen's by proxy" type scenario. Please some happiness for Maddi soon please.

Time To Get Interesting
AnimatedCritic18 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This whole episode just seems like a set-up for the season finale. To summarize the episode, nothing that interesting happens. The plot with Hen's mom was ok, but then it got good at the end. Maddie and Chimney's plot and their baby is probably going nowhere, as it's just a waste of screen time. One major cliffhanger is if Bobby and Athena might get a divorce, after their argument about not compromising. The whole phony-mom thing was also a waste of screen time. One thing that really captivated me was that a sniper was targeting the 118 crew, and Eddie could possibly DIE. Overall a 6 but because of the major cliffhanger, it's a 7.

This show used to be about emergency services, now...
christinielsen18 May 2021
This season the show has turned into a straight up nighttime soap. Way too much time on the individuals and their problems. I'm all for building the characters and their lives into the story line but, they need to apply the concept properly. It is easily possible to blend both, just check the spin off 911 LoneStar where they handle the balance very well. If you're out of stories call it a wrap, otherwise maybe some fresh blood in the writers room.
