And they said Devil Wears Parada, was too unrealistic and naive? They clearly couldn't imagine a show like, The Bold Type. Season 5 is clearly the worst of them all. I guess this is the year creators reached their limits, and decided to showcase the silliness and fluffiness of their show, and embraced the ludicrous. It not only prevented me from being invested in the stories, because I knew there would be no believable build up. But knowing the fact that « extreme » situations, were dealt with within the next two or three... sometimes only one episode, made the season lack true momentum. Everything going through social medias, is another big issue I have with this series in general. Every meaningful events, finding their « voice » into something as fleeting and changing as the internet, without even going deep into things, made it impossible for me to believe anybody would care about such half baked storylines. Writers never went outside their comfort zone, which made the way they tackled social issues, cringeworthy and already outdated. As far as this series finale is concerned, everything in it ringed hollow. I was unable to be invested in what they had in store for these heroines, who finally came to the conclusion that they were ready to take real risks, after starring in a show called « The Bold Type », for five years. They never grew from their experience at Scarlet magazine I thought, because everyone eventually agreed with their ideas, and congratulated them for being « woke » all the time... I'm not sure I'll be rewatching this show in the future. It is lacking such perspective and vision, it's barely leaving an impression, and will probably disappear into TV graveyard, one year from now anyway...
We're in 2024, and NOBODY talks about the show or the actresses anymore. I was right, you were wrong down-voters. Thank you.
