"A genre that plays on our fears"

Warning: Spoilers
Eli Roth's "Hostel" (2005) was one of the creepiest, scariest films I've ever seen, so I was curious to sample this series.

I don't find psychics to be very interesting, but the series' episode on them was the first I stumbled upon on the AMC channel.

"We all have this second sense, but we don't act on it," we're told in this segment about the folks who read other people's minds, see into the future, talk to the dead, and spontaneously ignite things. "Horror stories bring these fantasies to life, and show how quickly a blessing can turn into a curse."

I'm not a fan of slashing and gore, either, so the only film excerpted here that I had seen was "The Shining" (1980).

Just about the only movie discussed here that I'd want to see is David Cronenberg's "The Dead Zone," with Christopher Walken as a man who emerges from a car crash able to foresee the future -- "a very troubled protagonist."

I hope I'll glean more from future episodes. Given Roth's talents, I foresee potential here!
