Difficulties begin. Warning: Spoilers
"Unmei no KO Remi" or "Remi:the child of Destiny" is the first episode where we understand how hard the life of Remi will really be. After the return of Jerome Barberin to the village of Chavanon, Remi finds out that the man he was willing to meet, is a cruel and insensitive person. More so, Jerome has no regrets in quickly revealing that Remi is not really his child or his wife's. That he was an abandoned child and asks his wife to take him to an orphanage.

Remi is one of the hardest and yet, sweetest anime ever produced and an all-time favorite for anime lovers (now sometimes called Otakus, even when that connotation of the word did not exist when Remi was produced). In this second episode we can already foresee the kind of anime we will enjoy; one with intense feelings and extreme characters and some mysteries that will never be completely revealed like "How could Remi's loving adoptive mother ever have been in love with Remi's cruel adoptive father?" Even when we can guess a glimpse of the answer during future episodes, it is never clearly revealed.

This is the first episode where we can foresee that we will see a story full of paradoxes.

How does this anime compare to other similar ones? It is one of the hardest and saddest anime of all time, but it also has a lot of tender, compassionate and/or funny moments. A Classic, I must say, by overriding merits!

How does this chapter in particular compare to others in the series? It is not the saddest and certainly not the happiest episode of the series but it has between its special remarks that gives us a first quick look at the character of Signore Vitalis, maybe the most beloved character of the series.

Thanks for reading
